Spec-Ops Vets and Egyptian Liberals Agree: Morsi, Bad; Those Who Support Him, Bad

(Via Gateway Pundit) Secular Egyptian Protesters Bash US Democrats in Tahrir: “Down With American Democratic Party, the Ally of Morsi” ~ The Egyptian liberals are very upset with Barack Obama and his Democrat Party for propping up the Muslim Brotherhood and Morsi regime. This sign was seen in Tahrir this week:

  • “Down with the American Democratic Party the ally of Morsi, down with Morsi the infiltrator of America”

Criticizing Obama’s plan to provide Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi with F-16 fighter jets and “no less than 200 M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tanks,” retired Navy SEAL Capt. and co-founder of Special Operations Speaks Larry Bailey says there’s no way to separate support for Morsi from support for the Muslim Brotherhood.

President Morsi has made no qualms about his racist views toward Israel, his radical Islamist beliefs, or his willingness to impose dictatorial measures on Christians and the opposition party in Egypt. Yet for some reason, Barack Obama thinks that giving Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood allies newer, highly advanced fighter jets and the most lethal of modern tanks on the battlefield will lead to stability in the region.

Bailey cites Morsi’s description of Israelis as “blood-suckers” and “descendants of apes and pigs” as evidence of his hostility to America’s allies:

It is the height of madness to give radical Islamists–who openly hate our allies–new and more powerful weapons with which they could potentially destroy them. Special Operations Speaks condemns the Obama Administration’s decision to follow through on the deal in the strongest terms.

Wall Street Journal adds to the craziness:

Egypt’s President-elect Mohammed Morsi made a nod to his base in a speech on Friday when he pledged to seek the release of Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman from U.S. custody.

Sheik Abdel-Rahman, who is better known as the “blind sheik” is serving a life sentence at a federal penitentiary in North Carolina for his role in planning the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center in New York City.

His detention has become a cause célèbre among hard-line Salafi Islamists whom Mr. Morsi counted on in his runoff against ex-regime loyalist Ahmed Shafiq….

Kevin & Bean Highlite Two Stories of People `Coming Out`

I wanted to share something I heard on KROQ — Kevin & Bean — yesterday that made me want to post it here. I include the intro to the segment where Kevin, Bean, and Lisa May talk about one woman “coming out” to her parents (cute), and another story of a man telling how he broke the news to his mom (funny!). While I do not support the normalization of the gay lifestyle — balance is required because these are real people we are speaking about and they need grace just like we do.

Savannah Guthrie (NBC) Grills Justin Bieber`s Mom On Being Involved With Anti-Abortion Film

In an interview with the mother of pop star Justin Bieber, Pattie Mallette, on Thursday’s NBC Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie worried about Mallette’s producing role in an upcoming film: “…you wanted to talk about your involvement in a movie called Crescendo….[which] tells the story of Beethoven’s mother, who, while she was pregnant, attempted to have an abortion and even attempted suicide….it’s a movie with a decidedly pro-life/anti-abortion purpose.” (Read More @ NewsBusters)

Shooter Targeted Conservative Group Via SPLC Website

Via HOTAIR:

I have little to add to what you’ve read from Ace, John Sexton, R.S. McCain, Erick Erickson and others. We’re all thinking the same thing — see Twitchy for proof — and we’re all correct: Why yes, this is eerily similar to the left claiming after Gabby Giffords was shot that Palin’s “crosshairs” election map inspired Jared Loughner. With two differences. First, Loughner was not, in fact, inspired by Palin whereas this guy, per his own plea bargain, did consult the SPLC website in choosing people to kill. Second, you’ll see zero coverage of this inconvenient entry in the canon of political hate in wider media because it can’t be used as a blunt object with which to bludgeon the right. Sometimes facts that undermine the Greater Good need to be politely omitted. That’s what responsible journalism is all about.

Prosecutors say Corkins, who had been volunteering at a center for gay, lesbian and transgender people, was carrying ammunition and Chick-fil-A sandwiches in his bag. Chick-fil-A was making headlines at the time because of its president’s stated opposition to gay marriage.

Corkins intended to smear the sandwiches in the faces of his victims to make a statement about gay rights opponents, he acknowledged during a hearing Wednesday

In his plea agreement, Corkins acknowledged he identified the [Family Research] Council as “an anti-gay organization” by visiting Southern Poverty’s website. The head of the Council, Tony Perkins, called on the group to stop labeling his organization and others hate groups because of their stance on gay issues. A spokeswoman for the Alabama-based Law Center did not immediately return a telephone message

“He targeted us because we had been labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, which we think is very reckless,” [FRC employee Leo Johnson] says.

[….]

Funny thing, though: The SPLC itself was verrrrry quick to try to tie Jared Loughner to the “far right”, and kept at it long enough that they were posting speculative pieces about “political rhetoric” and its role in the Tucson shooting as late as 13 days after it occurred. Not only are they comfortable with a free-speech slippery slope when it’s right-wingers who are at risk, they’re willing and eager to add some grease. They richly deserve the bad PR they’re getting today, even if they’re blameless in the shooting. If you doubt that, visit Reason’s extensive archive on SPLC nonsense.

I also have an inquiry of sorts into the SPLC here.
