….There are other hints that morality exists in the macro sense in Trump. A friend said that by supporting Trump I become “one of them.” And trust me, for those that love Hayek and Sowell and Smith, these are moral positions:

  • Stopping 20[+] years of anti-Constitutionalist judges is not becoming one of them;
  • Reducing taxes is not becoming one of them;
  • Border control is not becoming one of them;
  • Reducing regulations is not becoming one of them;
  • Fighting and pushing back the worst of the Islamic faith is not becoming one of them;
  • Supporting law enforcement and putting in a DOJ head that supports them as well is not becoming one of them;
  • Rejecting climate change legislation is not becoming one of them;
  • Rejecting cultural Marxism is not becoming one of them;
  • etc., etc.

In other words, my Christian principles are not in play for my vote. In fact… having studied the issue of economics and free-markets, if-anything, my Christian principles want to increase freedom in the markets as well as slow the progress in other areas of progressive growth. These ARE moral positions. (I say slow by-the-by because Trump does not have ideal views in every area. And?) Another friend notes that “we must realize that a private vote for someone is not the same as a public endorsement.” Yep……

Why doesn’t this “wish” get Democrats attention?

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg shared her opposition to court-packing proposals that have gained traction among Democratic 2020 contenders in an interview published Wednesday.

Ginsburg said the Court functions well at the current number of personnel in a wide-ranging conversation with NPR, and panned prior efforts to expand the panel as quixotic.

“Nine seems to be a good number,” the justice said. “It’s been that way for a long time.”

“I think it was a bad idea when President Franklin Roosevelt tried to pack the Court,” Ginsburg said elsewhere in her remarks…..

Rush Limbaugh discusses journalistic “parroting” talking points. He takes us back to June of 2000 when “Dubya” announced Dick Cheney as his VP — the montage is from 2:00-to-2:55, and the voices heard in it are listed on Rush’s site as well as belolw. Great stuff, I missed this montage from soo many years ago, even Conan O’Brian used it (January 2014). See more at NEWSBUSTERS.

Juan Williams Plays a Race-Card Straight

A must watch exchange that included Juan Williams and Laura Ingraham via NEWSBUSTERS:

During the panel discussion on the January 8 episode of Fox News Sunday, Juan Williams claimed that last week’s torture of a mentally handicapped white man by four black adults “stirs up racial tensions already hot from the campaign rhetoric of Donald Trump,” and that “white nationalists” would see this as an excuse to “legitimize acts of white racism.”

After the panel spent a couple of minutes dealing with a viewer’s question about a perceived overemphasis on the “politics” of this crime instead of the fact that it was “a racial hate crime,” Laura Ingraham circled back to criticize Williams’s comment as “completely off base.”

First, we’ll see Chris Wallace’s introduction of the panel segment, followed by some video from the horrific crime originally broadcast live on Facebook, and then by Williams’s comments:

  • Williams argued “So you have people who I would say don’t fit into exactly a team of rivals, but to many people a team of radicals. A team of radicals in terms of, what are these people representing? Flynn, Mike Flynn, I don’t think he could be confirmed, but so he’s getting the — the national security advisor job.”
  • Bob Woodward sounded more pragmatic: “ They are hard liners. But I think, as Laura was suggesting, in presenting — in talking about these people, when you dig into who they are and they have controversial pasts, presenting them is one dimensional, is a giant mistake. These are complex people.”

The Son of Juan Williams, Tony, is a Republican!

He’s the District’s “other” Tony Williams. The one without the bow tie. The one who is not the mayor. The one who is a, um, Republican.

Antonio “Tony” Williams has heard the jokes: the cracks about being a D.C. Republican and the observations that he shares a surname with the mayor.

“I get tons of jokes,” says Mr. Williams, who is running for the Ward 6 seat on the D.C. Council. “Like ‘Oh, you’re the other Tony Williams,’ or ‘Oh, what’s up, Mr. Mayor?’ ”

Mr. Williams’ aspirations are no joke, even in a city where Democrats outnumber Republicans 9-to-1.

At 26, the D.C. native has launched an ambitious campaign, and his candidacy is seen as part of the foundation for revitalizing the Republican Party in the District.

“I went into it thinking that this is a longer-term project in terms of building the party, in terms of letting people know … that there’s a different voice and that there’s a different option,” he says. “It’s been too long that we’ve just voted party ticket and gotten nothing for it.”

The son of two Democrats — his mother, Delise, is a social worker and his father, Juan, is a political commentator for the Fox News Channel — Mr. Williams registered as a Republican after watching what he calls “the death of the African-American middle class” occur under D.C. Democrats.

His social ideals are strictly Republican, favoring small-business incentives, cutting commercial property taxes and promoting a government that encourages upward mobility and personal responsibility….
