Kimberley Strassel | American Thought Leaders

Who exactly are the “Resistance,” as explored in Kim Strassel’s new book “Resistance (At All Costs): How Trump Haters are Breaking America”?

How are “Trump haters” different from “Trump critics?” How is the Resistance different from past political movements? What are the long-term implications of its activities? And how are the media involved?

And, how can the Trump “impeachment inquiry” be seen as the latest chapter of the Resistance’s efforts?

This is American Thought Leaders??, and I’m Jan Jekielek.

Today we sit down with Kim Strassel, a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board and a prominent political commentator. She was the recipient of the Bradley Prize in 2014, and she writes the Journal’s long-running “Potomac Watch” column.

Helping Men Menstruate… No, Really!

This particular update comes by way of PJ-MEDIA, and has an example of a Democrat candidates (plural) running for the 2020 nomination for his party. Here are some examples:

And yes, it appears that the Menstrual Equity Act is a real thing. H.R. 1882, otherwise known as the Menstrual Equity For All Act of 2019. Apparently Beto thinks women across America have never heard of a pharmacy. Oh but wait, this absurd legislation isn’t just for women! According to GovTrack, this legislation will “increase the availability and affordability of menstrual hygiene products for individuals with limited access, and for other purposes.”

Individuals. Because men have periods too! Duh! Beto may not have gotten that memo, but Cory Booker and Julián Castro did.

Here is the bit by Julian Castro that got those who love science scratching their heads:

Here is the above in print via THE DAILY WIRE:

On Wednesday, during the Democratic presidential debate, Julian Castro, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under former President Barack Obama, decided biological men should be given the same rights to an abortion as biological women, stating, “Let’s also not forget someone in the trans community, a trans female, is poor, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have the right to exercise that right to choose.”

Trans females are biological men who claim identity as women.

Castro’s answer was triggered by NBC News’ Lester Holt, who asked, “Secretary Castro, this one is for you. All of you on stage support a woman’s right to an abortion. You all support some version of a government health care option. Would your plan cover abortion, Mr. Secretary?”

Castro answered, “Yes, it would. I don’t believe only in reproductive freedom, I believe in reproductive justice. And, you know, what that means is that just because a woman — or let’s also not forget someone in the trans community, a trans female, is poor, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have the right to exercise that right to choose. And so I absolutely would cover the right to have an abortion.”

One comment from a Facebook post noted the “obvious,” (lol)

  • Why are MEN advocating for this??? That’s nothing less than gender appropriation! (TM) What’s more, it’s absolutely unacceptable male privilege! (TM) HOW DARE THEY! (sarc)

Here is the earlier post on the topic (posted May 2017)

I had to laugh at this… but it is sad at the same time that (a) people think this is a normal thing, and (b) watching this little girl struggle with the FACT that a man could never menstruate or have periods (cramps, mood swings, headaches, tender breasts, bloating, various food cravings, etc). Apparently she even did a Google search on the topic… how much do you want to bet this household leans progressively left. She seemed truly disappointed there was not a way to make a man menstruate [which will never happen — just like a vagina is not made out of a man’s penis.]

This is with thanks to THE LIFE AND TIMES blog.

This should be combined with the lunacy exemplified in this recent story:

  • Brown University’s student body president will be hand-delivering menstrual products to all nonresidential bathrooms on campus, including men’s rooms, with the help of 20 other students.
  • The initiative is intended to communicate the message that “pads and tampons are a necessity, not a luxury,” and that not all people who menstruate are women.

(CAMPUS REFORM)

L&T notes this in his post: “The movement in the ‘Trans-‘” world is a bubble. The bubble is a dome of protection that guards you from truth, facts, and anything that makes you feel any slight discomfort.”

Here is the girls video that is attempting to help men with sex-changes to have “periods.” And note this girls struggle to not find anything online saying a man could menstruate, even after the mutilation done to his body.

Women use tampons to — essentially — remove blood in a controlled manner as to not ruin clothes, stay dry, and the like. NOW people will be inserting blood to simulate what my wife tells me is a hassle that allows for the miracle of life.

Like Life & Times, I am a Christian, and so have a religious matrix I view this topic through. But this should be just as black-and-white to the atheist evolutionist. That is, it has taken millions of years of survival-of-the-fittest to hone through natural selection and population growth the ability to procreate… the menstrual cycle being a part of that. Of course I don’t think the irreducible complexity of such a thing could ever be cobbled together by chance. That is another argument for another time. But assuming the sexes and reason for them from a strictly evolutionary and biological viewpoint should be just as perplexing [absolute] to those people.

The 4-Big Bangs ~ Frank Pastore (Prager University)

Anti-Inflammatory Health Helps (RPT Misc.)

My wife and I were readying for a cruise to Hawaii, and I knew I was going to be doing A LOT of walking — which was an issue for me. Why? Because at the end of 2014 I broke my ankle, leg, and fractured my knee. I was out of work essentially for three years, when they removed my “tightrope,” a good portion of my chronic pain went away and I could function better. (I am a driver now as I cannot stand on my feet for ten hours a day any-longer.)

I listen (while I drive) to talk radio, and I heard advertisements for RELIEF FACTOR’S 3-WEEK QUICK START. I figured, I can try it or bring this cane I just bought with me when I get bad. So I splurged and took that a week prior and during the two-week cruise. Dammit all if it didn’t work!. I felt really good and could walk much better and could be on my feet longer. As much I say it is a miracle mix from nature… it is too expensive for me to buy monthly (essentially 80-dollars a month).

So I got on Walmart’s app and found the ingredients for 80-dollars for two-months (click to enlarge) and have em shipped to me:

I take one pill of each of the above, twice-a-day. It helps I am sure my Multiple Sclerosis as well (because it is a natural anti-inflammatory mix — if I could afford it, I would add a small CBD-oil pill in the mix). I make packs with the little 3″ baggies from the craft area at Walmart, which include a multi-vitamin for men that I can take two-of during the day (making my own packets a convenient mix), as well as creatine (Why? Read This Article). HOWEVER, this can be time consuming… so if you can afford it and wish for convenience — I would get RELIEF FACTOR.

Average Temperatures and Sea Level Rise

EDITOR’S RANT: I just think it is sad that people do not realize — in general — that we have been warming for 10,000 years [assuming the broadly accepted ages of geology and the ice-age]. I mean, sea levels stood 350 to 400 feet lower than today — 10,000 years ago. If you run the numbers (see: ICE-AGE NOW), you’ll find that sea levels have been rising an average of .42 to .48 inches (just under half-an-inch) per year for the past 10,000 years. Rising sea levels have been the norm, in other words, for 10,000 years. (Here is a short video of 4-climate guys discussion the issues: YOUTUBE).

  • “In a House Science, Space, and Technology Committee hearing on climate change, under questioning by Mo Brooks, Alabama District Five, four members of a bipartisan panel of climate science experts all admitted that humans are not responsible for the Earth’s global warming that has occurred over the past 20,000 years,” Limbaugh stated. “Why the past twenty thousand years? Because that is when the Earth’s last glacial maximum occurred. The point is well the points are these: average global temperatures were roughly eleven degrees Fahrenheit colder than they are today, 20,000 years ago. Stated differently, global temperatures have risen on average, one half a degree Fahrenheit every one hundred years for the past twenty thousand years. Sea levels, sea levels were roughly four hundred and ten feet lower 20,000 years ago than they are today. This is according to the United States Geological Survey, which the global warming crowd loves and cites often. Stating this a different way, sea levels have risen on average roughly two feet per century over the past 20,000 years— roughly double the global warming advocates’ claimed average sea level rise of one foot per century since 1993.” (RUSH)

Also this article has some good “average” information: “Climate Alarmists Foiled: No U.S. Warming Since 2005” (REAL CLEAR ENERGY)

When American climate alarmists claim to have witnessed the effects of global warming, they must be referring to a time beyond 14 years ago. That is because there has been no warming in the United States since at least 2005, according to updated data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

[….]

There is also good reason to believe U.S. temperatures have not warmed at all since the 1930s. Raw temperature readings at the preexisting stations indicate temperatures are the same now as 80 years ago. All of the asserted U.S. warming since 1930 is the product of the controversial adjustments made to the raw data. Skeptics point out that as the American population has grown, so has the artificial warming signal generated by growing cities, more asphalt, more automobiles, and more machinery

SNL Does SCV

(KHTS) A Saturday Night Live sketch this past weekend not only featured the stars of the SNL cast and show host Will Ferrell, but also alluded to the fictitious, but must-watch reality television show “King and Queens of Santa Clarita.”

[….]

Despite a culture surrounding SNL that frowns upon cast members breaking character, the Bravo-esc scene was played so well by Ferrell and Strong that the other characters on set could not hold back their laughter.

Santa Clarita residents are no strangers to the entertainment industry’s spotlight.

On top of a number of shows including “NCIS,” “Criminal Minds” and “The Office” having been filmed at various locations in the community, Netflix is also set to release their second season of the Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant starring show, “Santa Clarita Diet.”

Additionally, shows like Showtime’s “Weeds” and Tim Burton’s film “Edward Scissorhands” make allusions to a setting in Santa Clarita without overtly stating it.

Santa Clarita also offers an apt location for film makers and show runners through local properties such as Santa Clarita Studios, Melody Ranch and Golden Oak Ranch

Fox News’ “Impeachment Poll”

I was challenged by a friend when I brought up the weighted aspect by this: “Have you taken any graduate level courses on polling Sean? I have.” So I guess you have to take graduate level courses in statistics to be fooled? I don’t know… I don’t put ANYTHING past these #NeverTrumpers any-longer. But I never say, “have you read over 2,000 books cover-to-cover, have a library of over 5,000 books as well as 3,000 more digitally?” — to make a point become true.

BIZPIC has this about the Fox News Poll:

The problem is that the poll was heavily biased because it over-sampled Democrats, thereby leading to skewed results.

According to analysis by the New York Post, a poll weighted for party affiliation would’ve concluded that 44.9% of voters favor impeachment, while 44.4% oppose it.

In other words, a less-biased poll would’ve shown that the majority of voters (55.1%) oppose impeachment.

Braun Research conducted the Fox News poll by sampling a pool comprised of:

  • 48% Democrats.
  • 40% Republicans.
  • 12% Independents.

In reality, registered American voters are:

  • 31% Democrat.
  • 29% Republican.
  • 38% independent.

Any poll that oversamples Democrats will lead to a skewed result. This is exactly what Fox News host Greg Gutfeld said this week when he dismissed the Fox News poll as bogus.

“We got to point out that it’s weighted toward Democrats,” Gutfeld said. “It’s 48% Democrats, 40% Republicans, 12% other. Also, it’s being taken at the fever pitch of media coverage about a single topic, so what do you expect?”

Gutfeld underscored: “We have to remind ourselves how many Democrats and how many Republicans are in this poll, and that these polls have been known to be wrong.”

AMERICAN THINKER continues the breakdown and shows how Rasmussen attempts to correct for such things:

How did the Fox polling unit come up with this number?

The Fox news polling companies interviewed 1,003 registered voters, ostensibly throughout the length and breadth of the United States.  Many polling companies use either all adult Americans (254 million) or registered voters (158 million in 2016) as their universe for polling.  Obviously, the greater the number of potential people to contact and question, the easier a poll is to complete and to skew a result.  In reality, what matters is who votes in an election.  In 2016, 86% (or 136.6 million) of registered voters cast a vote.  A poll of likely voters would inherently be more reliable but more difficult to achieve.  Currently, only Rasmussen among national polls uses exclusively likely voters and they are among the most reliable.

As the issue of impeachment is overtly political, the political make-up of the respondents in any poll is critical.  In this recent Fox poll, 48% of those polled claimed to be Democrats, 40% Republican, and 12% independent.  However, as Gallup points out in its most recent research, 31% of all Americans identify as Democrats, 29% as Republican and 38% as independent.

Ideally, all polls, as does Rasmussen, should strive to reflect that political affiliation dichotomy or as close as possible, considering the difficulty in finding people willing to be polled and be honest in their responses.

Therefore, the Fox poll, with its political make-up of respondents, is manipulated to come up with a desired result.  The issue isn’t the difference between the number of Democrat and Republican respondents, but the gross undercounting of independents and the massive overcounting of Democrats.

Over the past three months to date, in a variety of polls, an average of nearly 84% of all Democrats favored the impeachment of Donald Trump.  Therefore, when Fox uses 48% Democrat registered voters, the poll immediately, before taking into account any other group, will indicate 41% in favor of impeachment and removal.  Thus, to get to 51%, only 20% of those identifying as Republican or independents in this poll would have to be in favor of impeachment.

However, if Fox had used the actual political breakdown of 32% of Americans identifying as Democrats, then instead of an immediate impact of 41% in the result, it would have been 27%, or 14 percentage points less.

Further, over the past three months, polls have averaged 92% of Republicans and 56% of independents opposed to impeachment and removal.  If the Fox poll sample had been 29% Republican and 39% independent, using these average poll results, the final tabulation would have been 44% instead of 51%.

But there would have been no headlines and breathless anchors on CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, and ABC, nor any banner headlines in the Washington Post and New York Times trying to convince the nation that the citizenry is turning on Donald Trump….

Too Funny! A Russian Turns a Wrench ~ Hilarity Ensues

Took me two years, but I found the video again!

...Context

Some of the comments below included LADA references. LADA was a car manufactured during the Soviet days and was a miserable failure but a prime example of socialism versus free market ideals.

  • I didn’t know they had unions over there.
  • Should’ve used a hammer
  • Borat’s retarded cousin Bylo finally found a job. Great success!
  • Hey they need him on the F 35 project.
  • Must be cold there, his nuts have shrunk.
  • This is called teasing the bolt. Standard practice if the bolt is playing hard to get.
  • Come on, we all do that sometimes. pretend to do work at work
  • With wodka, you never have to worry about selecting the right size tool.
  • He’s going nuts with that bolt.
  • Must be a mechanic from F&R Auto Sales
  • Its like a Greek Tragedy. The train that was never finished and to this day the worker toils away.
  • “220…..221…whatever it takes.” ~ “I like his can-do attitude, lets hire him full-time.”
  • Poor Russia, can’t afford to buy right size wrench, so sad.
  • That bolt will take about two weeks to get tightened.
  • Pfft! anyone can see he needs a 7/16 whitworth spanner.
  • The whole thing is made of paper mache and tape.
  • I’ve got an entire set of wrenches with the same problem… I was vainly hoping this video would help me figure out what the hell’s wrong with ’em.
  • When I was in engineering I was taught that on the first day….walk around with a spanner and look busy
  • They will promote that one to management.
  • It’s a new iterative technique. You start with the largest wrench and if after 10 minutes it doesn’t meet resistance then you drop down a size and repeat.
  • They pretend to pay him so he pretends to work
  • Tomorrow he will find the right spanner for the wrong bolt.
  • He’s just warming the bolt up before tightening it.
  • He was the head A&P mechanic on Flight MH370.
  • 5 minutes ago he was sweeping the floor …good job Comrade!
  • I knew Sputnik was Fake!!!
  • Its a dying trade — the bluffer; not many of us left.
  • A master craftsman – it literally takes a lifetime to get to that skill level.
  • Laid off from the Lada factory, now he works there.
  • He was just using the wrong side.
  • Russian Spanner, French [Bolt].
  • new type or round bolts invented by Wladimir Wladimirowicz Putin
  • What a scam! During the close up, you can clearly see he flips the wrench the WRONG WAY!!
  • “Ill see you next week Yuri! Im off for a cuppa.”
  • Almost had it there buddy… try again.
  • Like a glove!
  • Is that the Lada factory?

No Official Vote On Impeachment – Per Pelosi

Here is the news almost everyone knew was coming, via RIGHT SCOOP and THE WASHINGTON TIMES: “Pelosi has reportedly informed her caucus that there will be no official impeachment vote in the House”

Now, my feeling on this final decision (of course, in politics nothing is ever “final”) is that after Marie Yovanovitch testified — presumably under oath — and apparently denied using State Dept resources to spy on American citizens, THI may have been a bridge too far for Nancy. So far everything has backfired on the Dems… this being the latest. And as more is known about the illegality of her and her staffs actions, the more Democrats stand to be hurt in 2020.

HOT AIR has a great post involving ALL THE ISSUES of this story… some of it is not too helpful to pro-Trumpers like myself… but for a good balance of this, read their whole piece… which ens thus:

So where does this ride come to a stop? How much of this is true — all of it, none of it, or only some of it? Trump loyalists will surely consider all of this as more evidence of a Deep State plot that now involves both the State and Justice Departments. Trump haters will see this as another case of foreign influence on the administration and a plot to smear Trump’s opponents, both electoral and otherwise. The rest of America might just be hoping that the [expletive deleted] ride would come to an end, period.

At this point, the mess is too complicated to suss out which conclusion reflects the truth. What does appear to true is that we’re not going to know for sure what’s true for a long, long time — and it might turn out, ironically, that the DoJ could end up as the most credible player in Ukraine-Gate.

Here are two videos discussing the issue introduced above:
