There is also more to CNN as of late regarding a story they pulled from their site. In fact, three staffers “quit” (probably told if they didn’t quit they would be fired) over #FakeNews. Here is more:
THREE PROMINENT CNN journalists resigned Monday night after the network was forced to retract and apologize for a story linking Trump ally Anthony Scaramucci to a Russian investment fund under congressional investigation. That article — like so much Russia reporting from the U.S. media — was based on a single anonymous source, and now, the network cannot vouch for the accuracy of its central claims.
In announcing the resignation of the three journalists — Thomas Frank, who wrote the story (not the same Thomas Frank who wrote “What’s the Matter with Kansas?”); Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Eric Lichtblau, recently hired away from the New York Times; and Lex Haris, head of a new investigative unit — CNN said that “standard editorial processes were not followed when the article was published.” The resignations follow CNN’s Friday night retraction of the story, in which it apologized to Scaramucci:
Several factors compound CNN’s embarrassment here. To begin with, CNN’s story was first debunked by an article in Sputnik News, which explained that the investment fund documented several “factual inaccuracies” in the report (including that the fund is not even part of the Russian bank, Vnesheconombank, that is under investigation), and by Breitbart, which cited numerous other factual inaccuracies.
And this episode follows an embarrassing correction CNN was forced to issue earlier this month when several of its highest-profile on-air personalities asserted — based on anonymous sources — that James Comey, in his congressional testimony, was going to deny Trump’s claim that the FBI director assured him he was not the target of any investigation.
When Comey confirmed Trump’s story, CNN was forced to correct its story. “An earlier version of this story said that Comey would dispute Trump’s interpretation of their conversations. But based on his prepared remarks, Comey outlines three conversations with the president in which he told Trump he was not personally under investigation,” said the network.
BUT CNN IS hardly alone when it comes to embarrassing retractions regarding Russia. Over and over, major U.S. media outlets have published claims about the Russia Threat that turned out to be completely false….
Over the weekend, CNN’s executives busied themselves with a new process for reporting on Russia, Buzzfeed later learned. According to an internal memo, all reporting from CNN on that topic will have to get specific approval from executives before appearing on any of their platforms. (HOTAIR)

Actor JOHNNY DEPP took the prize last week, when at a film festival in England he asked, “Can we bring Trump here,” and followed that by asking “When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?” The audience roared with cheers and laughter.

But Depp was hardly the only one to go back to using extreme, violent, incendiary rhetoric to talk about Republicans.

In Ohio, police arrested 68-year-old E. STANLEY HOFF after he left a voice mail for Rep. Steve Stivers saying that “We’re coming to get every goddamn one of you and your families. Maybe the next one taken down will be your daughter. Huh? Or your wife. Or even you.”
JOSEPH LYNN PICKETT of Illinois was charged with threatening Trump on Facebook, after posting that “the secret service now has a heads up as to my plan to assassinate Trump … let’s see if they act.”
The left’s reaction to the relatively modest Senate health reform bill made it abundantly clear that their rhetoric continues to be unhinged.
JOSH FOX, the director of the documentary about fracking — “Gasland” — sent a tweet in which he called Mitch McConnell and President Trump terrorists and proclaimed that the Senate health reform bill “sentences poor people to death.”
Late night talk show host SETH MEYERS called the bill “breathtakingly cruel.”
Harvard professor DAVID CUTLER tweeted that “GOP congress may never again get a chance to kill so many people. Could rival the Iraq War in its total.”
Sen. BERNIE SANDERS sent a tweet saying that the GOP bill “could kill up to 27,000 in 2026 so they can give tax cuts to the wealthy.”
Sen. ELIZABETH WARREN tweeted that the Senate bill “is blood money. They’re paying for tax cuts with American lives.”
Sanders later deleted his tweet, but Warren’s is still there.
And BARACK OBAMA, in a Facebook post in which he starts by saying how we need “to listen to Americans with whom we disagree,” couldn’t resists the urge to decry the “fundamental meanness” of the Senate bill.
All of this reads like an open invitation to commit actual acts of violence against Republicans…..

Let’s talk about a subject that few in Wisconsin, including the media, want to talk about: the interconnection between the epidemic of births to single mothers, poverty and contraceptives.
One brave Wisconsin legislator has broached parts of the subject. In his year-end letter, state Rep. Dale Kooyenga (R-Brookfield) talked about Christmas and the importance of meaningful relationships, and on that theme wrote:
“The problem with many government programs is they discourage a traditional family structure. Near the start of the war on poverty, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a well-respected Democrat from New York, warned that the public benefits associated with assisting black families may have the unintended consequences of discouraging traditional black families. He was ridiculed by many in academia and government – precisely those who were designing the government based solutions.
“At the time, one in four black children were born to unwed mothers. Today, two out of three black children are born to unwed mothers. This is not necessarily a racial issue 50 years later. The likelihood of being an adult in poverty is more closely correlated with being born to an unwed mother than correlated to race. In other words, a black child born into poverty, but with a traditional family structure, is more likely to escape poverty than a white child born into poverty without a traditional family structure. I am not preaching my world view, I am simply summarizing the data.”
He goes on to tell of his successful fight for the “Safe Families” program that enables hosting children while their single mothers get their feet under them with services like rehabilitation and job training. His family has hosted several children.
Kooyenga is tackling a problem that needs to be tackled even more broadly. First off, his numbers are on the low side. The birth rate to single moms of all kinds in Milwaukee County is 55%. It’s 37% across Wisconsin. Births to black single mothers in Wisconsin and Milwaukee are 85% and 87%, respectively…..
The L.A. Times notes the following… I will emphasize the main point:

…A memo filed Wednesday says Castile was a regular marijuana user who died with high levels of THC, the drug’s chemical component, in his system. The memo says Castile was driving while stoned when St. Anthony Police Officer Jeronimo Yanez pulled him over, leading to their deadly encounter.
It says Castile, 32, was “culpably negligent and was the substantial cause of his own demise.”…
1) He didn’t make eye contact at all; 2) He did not follow the repeated instructions; 3) Didn’t say he had a conceal carry permit; 4) Didn’t keep his hands in view until further instructed by the officer. (WashPo)
