The murder-suicide concerning NFL linebacker Jovan Belcher has reignited the national debate over gun control, especially in the wake of commentary provided last night by NBC sportscaster Bob Costas. Radio host Leo Terrell and author Erik Rush appeared on Sean Hannity’s show tonight for an incredibly heated segment on gun control. At one point, Rush got so frustrated with Terrell interrupting him he loudly begged Terrell to “please shut up!”

I will import a great post from Gateway Pundit for others here who do not realize the history of guns and black people and why the NRA was created:

On September 28, 1868, a mob of Democrats massacred nearly 300 African-American Republicans in Opelousas, Louisiana. The savagery began when racist Democrats attacked a newspaper editor, a white Republican and schoolteacher for ex-slaves. Several African-Americans rushed to the assistance of their friend, and in response, Democrats went on a “Negro hunt,” killing every African-American (all of whom were Republicans) in the area they could find. Which brings us to today… Asshat Jason Whitlock, the Kansas City columnist whose article on Jovan Belcher‘s murder-suicide inspired an anti-gun rant by NBC’s Bob Costas, now says that the pro-Second Amendment National Rifle Association is “the new KKK,” Newsbusters’ Tim Graham reported Monday.

Obviously, Whitlock is as ignorant as he is offensive. The NRA actually helped blacks defend themselves from violent KKK Democrats in the south, not the other way around. Ann Coulter wrote about the history of blacks and the NRA back in April.

This will give you an idea of how gun control laws worked. Following the firebombing of his house in 1956, Dr. Martin Luther King, who was, among other things, a Christian minister, applied for a gun permit, but the Alabama authorities found him unsuitable. A decade later, he won a Nobel Peace Prize.

How’s that “may issue” gun permit policy working for you?

The NRA opposed these discretionary gun permit laws and proceeded to grant NRA charters to blacks who sought to defend themselves from Klan violence — including the great civil rights hero Robert F. Williams.

A World War II Marine veteran, Williams returned home to Monroe, N.C., to find the Klan riding high — beating, lynching and murdering blacks at will. No one would join the NAACP for fear of Klan reprisals. Williams became president of the local chapter and increased membership from six to more than 200.

But it was not until he got a charter from the NRA in 1957 and founded the Black Armed Guard that the Klan got their comeuppance in Monroe.

Williams’ repeated thwarting of violent Klan attacks is described in his stirring book, “Negroes With Guns.” In one crucial battle, the Klan sieged the home of a black physician and his wife, but Williams and his Black Armed Guard stood sentry and repelled the larger, cowardly force. And that was the end of it.

As the Klan found out, it’s not so much fun when the rabbit’s got the gun.

The NRA’s proud history of fighting the Klan has been airbrushed out of the record by those who were complicit with the KKK, Jim Crow and racial terror, to wit: the Democrats.

Sadly, asshat Whitlock will get away with his outrageous lies. The early KKK Democrats would be proud.

Rough Week for Media and Obama ~ You Will Only Hear About Romney`s Week However

Although you will only hear about Romney’s rough week, the Obama admin and even the legacy media have taken quite a hit. So not only do you have liberal Kirstin Powers saying the press is complicit with terrorism, as well as liberal Jews and Democratic Representatives and Senators expressing their worry about Obama’s stance on Israel. Not to mention that more evidence that “Death Panels” are a reality in the Obama-Care mandate (examples: liberal Evan Thomas, and former Obama “car czar” Steven Rattner), but you have Democratic strategist and pollster Pat Caddell at an Accuracy in Media conference earlier this month saying that the “Press Has Become ‘Threat to Democracy’ and ‘Enemy of the American People‘”

P.S. Don’t forget that a person on MSNBC said that only if Obama is elected a second time will America be a non-racist country.

Anthony List (SBA List) announced the launch of a $150,000 television ad campaign across Missouri highlighting President Obama’s extreme record on abortion and featuring abortion survivor Melissa Ohden. Missouri has recently been at the center of the conversation on abortion.

 I wish to note Christians would fight the most to protect people from “gender/orientation” abortions because we have a worldview that denotes person-hood to all (See: The Declaration). When you start to have special rights afforded to classes of people, then equality under the law is lost. Dennis Prager says it well…

The left values equality above other values because it yearns for an America in which all people have similar amounts of material possessions. This is what propels the left to advocate laws that would force employers to pay women the same wages they pay men not only for the same job but for “comparable” jobs (as if that is objectively ascertainable). The left wants a world — and therefore an America — devoid of nuclear weapons. The right wants America to have the best nuclear weapons. The right trusts American might more than universal disarmament.

The left wants to redefine marriage to include same-sex couples for the first time in history. The right wants gays to have equal rights, but to keep marriage defined as man-woman. This, too, constitutes an irreconcilable divide.

For these and other reasons, calls for a unity among Americans that transcends left and right are either naive or disingenuous. America will be united only when one of them prevails over the other. The left knows this. Most on the right do not….

Two Plead Guilty to Murder in PA Abortion `House of Horrors` ~ The Party of Death

While former Gosnell employees are pleading guilty left and right, abortion clinics are still fighting against legislation to strengthen abortion clinic regulations. (source)

Two abortion clinic workers pleaded guilty on Thursday to third-degree murder at a Philadelphia clinic where seven babies were allegedly killed with scissors and a patient died from an overdose of painkillers. One worker, Andrea Moton, 34, admitted her involvement in the death of a baby. The other, Sherry West, 52, pleaded guilty in the February 2009 death of a patient, Karnamaya Mongar. Neither worker was properly trained for the tasks they did at the clinic run by Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the authorities said. Dr. Gosnell and nine employees, including his wife, were charged after a grand jury report detailed macabre conditions at the West Philadelphia clinic. Dr. Gosnell, the only doctor, and other staff members are accused of performing illegal late-term abortions and killing babies born alive by severing their spinal cords with scissors. Ms. Moton assisted with procedures and cut the spinal cords of aborted babies, the grand jury report said. Ms. West also pleaded guilty to drug delivery causing death. Ms. West’s lawyer said she might have administered some of the Demerol that killed Ms. Mongar.

 

The issue related with all this deals with health codes and regulations that seem to not apply to abortion clinics, for example:

Wisconsin’s abortion facilities not subject to health inspections

An open records request conducted by Pro-Life Wisconsin has revealed the state’s abortion facilities are not inspected by the Department of Health Services and no records exist of any such past inspections. Furthermore, there is no state statute mandating health inspections of the state’s abortuaries.

January 22 marks the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade and a death toll of 53.5 million babies aborted nationwide.  Abortion may be legal, but here in Wisconsin, it is neither safe nor rare. We have seen women rushed by ambulance to a hospital after botched abortions. We know women who have committed suicide after having an abortion. Abortion hurts women!

By contrast, all restaurants in Wisconsin receive a health inspection at least once per year.

Whether a facility heals or kills, there are standards of care that must be adhered to. It is unbelievable that abortion facilities do not receive even the scrutiny that a fast food restaurant does. At the end of the day, the state of Wisconsin and the health department are responsible for the health of the public.

This morning, news services across the country reported the horrifying circumstances surrounding a Philadelphia abortionist’s practice:

An abortion doctor who catered to minorities, immigrants and poor women was charged with eight counts of murder in the deaths of a patient and seven babies who were born alive and then killed with scissors, prosecutors said Wednesday… Patients were subjected to squalid and barbaric conditions at Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society.

Makes you wonder what all Wisconsin’s abortion facilities have to hide. So much for safety.

From a 2006 WND article: Recent investigations at abortion clinics in several states have shown that such businesses are not just a danger to unbornchildren, but also to the immediate health and welfare of the mothers that enter their doors. In the past two months, Alabama’s health department has shut down two of the state’s 10 abortion clinics for health code violations and Florida’s health department has shut down five.

In Arizona, “In 1999 a bill was passed to regulate abortion clinics.  Before the law could take effect, a lawsuit was filed that “stayed” the regulation of abortion clinics until a settlement agreement could be finalized with the Department and the plaintiffs.  Last year the settlement agreement was finalized and the Department was able to write rules for the regulation of abortion clinics. The new rules are complete and have been filed with the Secretary of State’s office; they go into effect on November 1, 2010.”

Thanks to the successful Bush Surge in 2007-2008, that Obama and democrats opposed, the number of US fatalities in Iraq has gone from over 100 a month down to a handful or less a month.

In October 5 heroes were killed while serving their country in Iraq.
In September 3 heroes were killed while serving their country in Iraq.

Last month there were 2,000?… 3,000?… Possibly 5,000 far left protesters setting up Occupy squatter camps in city parks across the country. In the 10 days at least 4 of these protesters were found dead in pup tents.

From these figures we can confirm that your odds of surviving a tour in Iraq is now greater than the odds of you surviving a night in a pup tent at an Occupy protest.

30 Studies in Last Five Years Show Negative Impact of Abortion

I just want to point out that progressive ideology is just that, an ideology. They will ignore the facts that could serve the individual best in order to push a position that both harms the mother and kills a life. It is the exact opposite of what liberals say they attempt to do, that is help the individual. Dr. Coleman is an Associate Professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Bowling Green State University. A major concentration of her research has been the psychological outcomes among women who have experienced abortion.

On Sunday, November 7th, the Washington Post published an opinion piece by Dr. Brenda Major, titled The Big Lie about Abortion and Mental Health. I would like to offer another perspective on dishonesty permeating the scientific study and dissemination of information pertaining to abortion and mental health.

Dr. Major is absolutely correct: an informed choice regarding abortion must be based on accurate information. For abortion providers to offer an unbiased and valid synopsis of the scientific literature on increased risks of abortion, the information must include depression, substance abuse, and anxiety disorders, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as well as suicide ideation and behaviors.

Over 30 studies have been published in just the last five years and they add to a body of literature comprised of hundreds of studies published in major medicine and psychology journals throughout the world. The list is provided below and the conscientious reader is encouraged to check the studies out. No lies … just scientifically-derived information that individual academics, several major professional organizations, and abortion providers have done their best to hide and distort in recent years.

Like Dr. Major, I too am a tenured, full professor at a well-respected U.S. university, and I too have published peer-reviewed scientific articles in reputable journals. In fact, my publication record far exceeds that of Dr. Major on the topic of abortion and mental health. I am not alone in my opinion, which has been voiced by prominent researchers in Great Britain, Norway, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, the U.S., and elsewhere.

As a group of researchers who in 2008 published nearly 50 peer-reviewed articles indicating abortion is associated with negative psychological outcomes, six colleagues and I sent a petition letter to the American Psychological Association (APA) criticizing their methods and conclusions as described in their Task Force Report on Abortion and Mental Health.

They made the language worse, instead of doing this once every five years, now the Obama administration is allowing this to happen every year and actually reimbursing doctors to do it every year. They have to find this huge health care savings for seniors at the same time they’ve become the counselors to seniors in their end of care decisions?

POWERS: Where was your outrage in 2008 when the Bush administration said that Medicare would reimburse end of life counseling?

SCHLAPP: It was a veto that was overridden by the Democrats. So, I give President Bush credit for vetoing that bill.

POWERS: No, it was a 2008 law. I mean, I don’t know what are talking about.

SCHLAPP: Yes, that became law over the president’s veto.

POWERS: No, that’s not true.

Kirsten Powers says in this interview/debate that Bush made this law, GATEWAY PUNDIT has this correction:

Republican analyst Matt Schlapp corrected this latest lie [right around the 6:40 mark] by the Obama Administration. Bush vetoed the end of life provision that went into law in 2008.

What The Hill’s Jason Millman forgot to mention in his article was that President Bush VETOED the 2008 bill and the Democrats, along with some “good-willed” Republicans OVERRODE Bush’s veto forcing him to sign the legislation into law.  The bill dealt with doctors’ reimbursements and more, but the Democrats slipped in the end-of-life planning by opening up the Social Security Act, which I have stated many times is dangerous, because once changed, it is difficult to amend again and allows for tinkering with the Medicare fee schedule and covered services definitions and requirements.

The fact that the Obama Administration claimed that the Bush Administration supported the end of life provision is a complete lie. And, they know it.
