“3801 Lancaster” | Politicizing When Life Begins
I have written extensively on this topic of Margaret Sanger’s goals, which you see some well known pro-life people (like Alveda King, Martin Luther King’s niece) speaking against. And it is true that hair salons are more regulated than any, yes ANY, abortion clinic.
Here is CNN’s single report if you are not in the loop:
Here is the key ideas in the horrific case discussed on Special Report’s panel discussion, and one must note that when Obama was a Senator, he voted to make these actions legal!
Kirsten Powers’ article , “We’ve forgotten what belongs on Page One,” is a great example of a rational Democrat coming to terms with this.
Trial of abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell reveals ‘a house of horrors’
It was a scene the Philadelphia District Attorney called “a house of horrors.” A warning to readers, some of the details in this story are gruesome.
West Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell is on trial for running an abortion clinic in which he allegedly killed babies who had survived illegal, late-term abortions, and where a woman allegedly died of a botched painkiller injection.
“The evidence is certainly compelling,” said The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Joseph Slobodzian. Slobodzian has been in the courtroom every day of the trial.
“There are any number of witnesses, most of them former employees of Dr. Gosnell’s clinic, who say they saw late-term abortions being done, they saw fetuses, babies, that were moving, breathing after the procedure, and those babies were killed,” said Slobodzian.
Gosnell is maintaining his innocence and says he was helping his community, despite the fact that his employees are coming out against him.
“Kermit Gosnell comes from a very well-established family in West Philadelphia,” said Slobodzian, adding that Gosnell went to the University of Pennsylvania, transferred to Dickenson College for his Bachelor’s degree, received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical School, and then came home to begin working in the community.
“He until these charges had what is considered a pretty good reputation in the community,” said Slobodzian. “Then in 1979 opened his Women’s Medical Society clinic at 38th and Lancaster … and then sometime during the ’70s he began doing abortions.”
District Attorney Seth Williams described the clinic and Gosnell at length in the grand jury testimony.
“This case is about a doctor who killed babies and endangered women. What we mean is that he regularly and illegally delivered live, viable babies in the third trimester of pregnancy — and then murdered these newborns. … The medical practice by which he carried out this business was a filthy fraud in which he overdosed his patients with dangerous drugs, spread venereal disease among them with infected instruments, perforated their wombs and bowels — and, on at least two occasions, caused their deaths,” reads the grand jury report.
A National Abortion Federation official who visited Gosnell’s office said, “It was the worst clinic she had ever seen,” but she never told the authorities about it. Patients were regularly misled, according to a documentary on the Gosnell case, “3801 Lancaster.”
“When I got pregnant again, I went to the clinic and I asked them, I said, ‘Is it okay that I get another abortion?’ ‘Fine, fine.’ They even, like, had this woman sit down with me and she told me women in Brazil have at least 21 abortions,” said one of the patients of the clinic in the documentary. “After she had coached me into believing that that was the norm, I would say within the next 14 years, like within that time I had eight abortions. Eight.”
The details about some of the late-term abortions performed at the clinic are shocking.
“It’s pretty grim, it’s pretty grim in the courtroom,” said Slobodzian, speaking about his personal reaction to covering the trial, adding that each day he tries to cover the human emotion on display at the trial, as well as the facts and the information.
“But I have to tell you, I certainly don’t hope I cover a trial like this again.”

Washington State Attorney General (Democrat of course) Says Jail-Time for not Accepting Government Gay Marriage (Updated with FB Convo & Video)
Of course these stories are becoming more plentiful, Via Libertarian Republican:
You will go to jail for not accepting government gay marriage, says WA State Democrat AG. From the SeattleTimes, State sues florist over refusing service for gay wedding:
The state attorney general has filed a lawsuit in Benton County Superior Court against a Richland florist who refused to provide flowers for the wedding of longtime gay customers, citing her religious opposition to same-sex marriage. The state’s suit against Barronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene’s Flowers and Gifts, came just days after the Attorney General’s Office wrote to ask that Stutzman reconsider her position and agree to comply with the state’s anti-discrimination laws.
“Under the Consumer Protection Act, it is unlawful to discriminate against customers on the basis of sexual orientation,” Attorney General Bob Ferguson said in a statement. “If a business provides a product or service to opposite-sex couples for their weddings, then it must provide same-sex couples the same product or service.”
In LR’s newest post, they make a point by saying: “Jewish Florist in Seattle forced to sell Flower arrangement to Neo-Nazis for Hitler Birthday Celebration.”
A civil rights icon who gave the benediction at President Obama’s inauguration said that he believed ‘all white people were going to hell’.
The Reverend Joseph Lowery, 91, was speaking at a rally in Georgia.
According to an account in the Monroe County Reporter: ‘Lowery said that when he was a young militant, he used to say all white folks were going to hell.
‘Then he mellowed and just said most of them were. Now, he said, he is back to where he was.’
The point is, if one is a hate crime? Why isn’t the other considered such? In other words, President Obama shouldn’t have awarded the top civilian medal to a racist… unless Obama is a racist?
Interesting FB questions/comments and input on this story:
One friend writes:
If this florist is not a “Religious institution or business” it should allow its services without discrimination toward its buyers or customers, as well as employees who may be homosexual. I dont think this is Gay Marriage Tyranny, we all have opinions and we all have facts, hopefully, to build our opinions off of, but being a public service, or public business, they cannot discriminate on race, color, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, against hippies, or police officers, or punk rockers, or business men, or whatever.
Only in the event that they cause the business harm, can the business owner, or manager refuse service. Its kind of the same thing with Adoption agencies. These are public businesses, not so much religious institutions. It is the owners rights to close down or move its business if it doesn’t want to comply with the laws, but it is not necessarily their right to refuse service because they don’t believe its right or wrong. Remember the Chik Fila thing. They can believe what they want, but it doesn’t stop them from serving people food, regardless of their beliefs.
I know the attacks on the Institutions are coming and I hope you know Sean that I agree with you on the Christian Stance in all things. We can come up with non-faithful reasons to argue our points as well but #1 is that God is first among all things. If God is really first to this florist, then she should understand that selling flowers to someone is not condoning their behavior or their sexual orientation, its simply providing a service in which someone is paying for something. If she didn’t know they were Gay, she would have sold them flowers irregardless and this wouldn’t be a sin.
The only other option for this florist is to Close down shop. IF she really feels so strongly about it being a sin and that providing flowers for this couple would make God mad or upset with her, and the owner really loves God, then putting Him first means closing up shop. In her mind of course.
What do you think Sean?
Another friend:
What ever happened to “We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone”?
The first friend responds:
It doesn’t give the owners the right to Really refuse ANYONE. For example they can’t refuse you service because your wearing a blue shirt, or a hat. It can’t be some arbitrary reason. Maybe if your being offensive, or wearing something offensive, overly having a Public Display of Affection.
I respond:
I am very busy this last week-and-a-half leading up to my cruise… so I will quickley say that yes, if homosexuality were immutable, like skin color [ethnicity], I would say you would have a point. But if a person wants to not serve someone who doesn’t have shoes on, who skins animals, or prefers to catch instead of pitch… they have the prerogative to do so. My wife’s family member gives her input:
I am a professional vocalist and I sing for numerous weddings. I would not sing for a same sex ceremony. I have refused to sing for weddings that I did not support – even though they were a man and woman. Does this mean that now I could be sued for refusing to take the job if offered by a gay couple? A marriage is more than just a ceremony to me. It truly is a Faith issue for me. I find it hard to believe that if I (or a florist) choose to refrain from extending my talents and abilities for hire to someone that I do not support in their marital decision than I lose MY rights. This is CRAZY and out of CONTROL. I am sure there are plenty of gay florists out there – They would probably appreciate the business.
I chime in:
Great point, would a person lose his or her right to not provide a service to a couple who didn’t get per-marital counseling from a pastor? Are they disenfranchised? Or can they simply take their business elsewhere? They should simply take their business elsewhere. That is what the free-market is for.
For the record, I would have provided the flowers, seeing that it would have been a great opportunity to befriend and witness to a lost world.

Cable News Race ~ First Quarter (2013)
(Via Breitbart) Per TVNewser, in total viewers, Bill O’Reilly, The Five, Sean Hannity, Special Report with Bret Baier, and nine other Fox News Channel (FNC) shows topped everyone else in cable news for the first quarter of 2013. In the 25-54 demo, FNC had the top six programs. In total viewers, the top MSNBC program came in at 14th, the top CNN program came in 19th. Piers “gun grabber” Morgan came in 21st; Erin Burnett came in 30th.
Keep in mind that while Fox is still at the top, all cable news lost viewers, via NewsMax:
Every cable news network saw its ratings drop from 2012 levels, following a banner year for political coverage.
Fox and CNN took the biggest hits, falling 33 percent and 28 percent, respectively, The Huffington Post reported.
However, Fox News continued to dominate the leaderboard in the first quarter of 2013, marking 45 consecutive quarters, more than 11 years, as the highest-rated cable news network.
And despite declines among younger viewers, Fox News grew in total viewers in late afternoon programming.

Professor David Deming Defends Professor Don Easterbrook from the Anti-Science Global Warming Ideology
- [WUWT note: this article was originally submitted as a “letter to the editor” to the Bellingham Herald, a newspaper that published an attack on Dr. Don Easterbrook. The Herald refused to publish my rebuttal. The executive editor, July Shirley (julie.shirley@bellinghamherald.com) explained “We only print letters from residents of Whatcom County. We are not publishing your letter.”]
Via Watts Up With That? (Seen first at Powerline) Note that there are numerous links in the original post:
I write in rebuttal to the March 31 letter by WWU geology faculty criticizing Dr. Don Easterbrook. I have a Ph.D in geophysics and have published research papers on climate change in the peer-reviewed scientific literature. In 2006 I testified before the US Senate on global warming. Additionally, I am the author of a three-volume history of science.
I have never met Don Easterbrook. I write not so much to defend him as to expose the ignorance exhibited in the letter authored by WWU geology faculty. Their attack on Dr. Easterbrook is the most egregious example of pedantic buffoonery since the Pigeon League conspired against Galileo in the seventeenth century. Skepticism is essential to science. But the goal of the geology faculty at WWU seems to be to suppress critical inquiry and insist on dogmatic adherence to ideology.
The WWU faculty never defined the term “global warming” but described it as “very real,” as if it were possible for something to be more real than real. They claimed that the evidence in support of this “very real” global warming was “overwhelming.” Yet they could not find space in their letter to cite a single specific fact that supports their thesis.
There is significant evidence that would tend to falsify global warming. The mean global air temperature has not risen for the last fifteen years. At the end of March the global extent of sea ice was above the long-term average and higher than it was in March of 1980. Last December, snow cover in the northern hemisphere was at the highest level since record keeping began in 1966. The UK just experienced the coldest March of the last fifty years. There has been no increase in droughts or wildfires. Worldwide hurricane and cyclone activity is near a forty-year low.
One might think that the foregoing facts would raise doubts in scientists interested in pursuing objective truth. But global warming is not so much a scientific theory subject to empirical falsification as it is a political ideology that must be fiercely defended in defiance of every fact to the contrary. In the past few years we have been told that not only hot weather but cold weather is caused by global warming. The blizzards that struck the east coast of the US in 2010 were attributed to global warming. Every weather event–hot, cold, wet or dry–is said to be caused by global warming. The theory that explains everything explains nothing.
Among the gems in the endless litany of nonsense we are subjected to are claims that global warming causes earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions. Last year we were warned that global warming would turn us all into hobbits, the mythical creatures from J. R. R. Tolkien’s novels. I am not aware of any member of the WWU geology faculty criticizing these ridiculous claims. Their vehemence seems to be reserved for honest skeptics like Dr. Easterbrook who advance science by asking hard questions.
At the heart of the WWU geology faculty criticisms was the claim that peer review creates objective and reliable knowledge. Nonsense. Peer review produces opinions. Scientists, like other people, have political beliefs, ideological orientations, and personal views that strain their scientific objectivity. One of the most disgusting things to emerge from the 2009 Climategate emails was the revelation of an attempt to subvert the peer-review process by suppressing the publication of work that was scientifically sound but contrary to the reviewer’s personal views.
The infamous phrase “hide the decline” refers to an instance where a global warming alarmist omitted data that contradicted his personal belief that the world was warming. This sort of bias is not limited but pervasive. Neither is science a foolproof method for producing absolute truth. Scientific knowledge is always tentative and subject to revision. The entire history of science is littered with discarded theories once thought to be incontrovertible truths.
The WWU geology faculty letter asserted that technological advances arise from application of the scientific method. They claimed that airplanes were invented by scientists. But the Wright brothers were bicycle mechanics–not scientists. The modern age of personal computing began in a suburban California garage in 1976. The most significant technological advance in human history was the Industrial Revolution in Britain that occurred from 1760 through 1830. When Adam Smith toured factories and inquired as to who had invented the new machinery, the answer was always the same: the common workman. Antibiotics were not discovered through the rigorous application of scientific methodology but serendipitously when Fleming noticed in 1928 that mold suppressed bacterial growth.
Dr. Easterbrook’s contributions have furthered the advance of scientific knowledge and the progress of the human race. It matters not if a multitude of professors oppose him. As Galileo explained, it is “certain that the number of those who reason well in difficult matters is much smaller than the number of those who reason badly….reasoning is like running and not like carrying, and one Arab steed will outrun a hundred jackasses.”

Another Hate-Crime Hoax (Moonbattery) ~ Plus More
(LifeSiteNews) In yet another example of an alleged “hate crime” unraveling, a young homosexual whose tale of abuse became a national issue has admitted he made the whole thing up.
Joseph Baken admitted in court today that he had perpetrated a hoax by telling police three men had beaten him because he was homosexual, lacerating his face.
Baken initially said he entered the Missoula Club last Saturday to celebrate his 22nd birthday, announced he was gay, and asked for directions to a gay bar. He called the police three hours later, at 4:30 a.m, saying a man had lured him outside to smoke a cigarette, where two other men joined him beating Baken and called him a “fa@#ot.”
A Moonbattery import, because it is THAT good:
The media must be grateful for hate crime hoaxes. Without them, virtually the only hate crimes would be against the heterosexual white males we are supposed to regard as demons. Another to add to the list:
A minister at a Virginia church faces charges of setting his house and car in Chesterfield County on fire.
Chesterfield County police had investigated the fires as a possible hate crime because a racial slur had been painted on the house. Police believe 41-year-old Olander D. Cuthrell, who is black, painted the slurs on his home before he set it on fire.
Rev. Cuthrell joins a dishonor roll that includes:
✦ Charlie Rogers
✦ Joseph Baken
✦ Alexandra Pennell
✦ Aimee Whitchurch and Christel Conklin
✦ Quinn Matney
✦ Aubriana Banks
✦ Sarah Marshak
✦ Tawana Brawley
✦ Crystal Gail Mangum
✦Kerri Dunn
✦Leah Miller
✦Ahmad Saad Nasim
…et cetera, ad nauseam.
Too bad this didn’t occur in Arkansas during Bill Clinton’s childhood. Then when he pandered for black and moonbat votes by proclaiming, “I have vivid and painful memories of black churches being burned in my own state when I was a child,” he might not have been lying.
So lets, talk about this a bit, and why I have been for years against “hate-crime” legislation. One reason is this:
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Hate Crime Statistics Program (fbi.gov), the official source of hate crime data for the United States, constitutes the greatest hate crime hoax of all. Simply put, according to the Hate Crime Statistics Program, “Hispanic” is a victim category, but not a perpetrator category. A racially motivated crime against a Hispanic person by a white person is recorded as an anti-Hispanic hate crime by a white person. But a racially motivated crime against a black person by a visibly non-white Hispanic person is recorded as an anti-black hate crime by a white person (fbi.gov).
Taki lists the top-ten of hate-crime hoaxes, but this list can be much, much, longer. Taki has only listed ten examples but there are dozens and dozens more. This is a great compilation of hate-crime hoaxes from just 1993.
1. “KKK,” “NIG@#R,” AND “BITCH” SCRAWLED ON BLACK VICTIM’S TORSO
In 1987 Tawana Brawley claimed to have been abducted and raped by white cops, who left her to die in the garbage. She said epithets were written on her body upside down in a black substance that resembled charcoal. Brawley was sued for making up the story. She subsequently converted to Islam.
2. SWASTIKA PAINTED ON TALK-SHOW HOST’S FOREHEAD
In 1989, Morton Downey, Jr. claimed that Nazi skinheads painted a swastika on his forehead in an airport bathroom. Then people noticed the swastika was backwards, which is how it would be drawn if you did it yourself in front of a mirror.
3. SWASTIKA AND “BURN NIG@#R BURN” SPRAY-PAINTED ON CRIPPLED BLACK LESBIAN CANCER VICTIM’S HOUSE
A cancer-stricken black lesbian in a wheelchair was subjected to the visceral hatred of some stranger who spray-painted “Burn Nig@#r Burn” on her house. Police got suspicious and installed a surveillance camera, which revealed said black lesbian lighting a cross on fire. She also wasn’t handicapped and had even shaved her eyebrows to try and convince people she was undergoing chemo.
4. ANOTHER BLACK MAN DRAGGED BEHIND A TRUCK
In 1998, the same year James Byrd was dragged behind a truck, a black drug dealer named Cornelius Weaver said the same thing happened to him. It was investigated as a hate crime until Weaver was forced to admit his wounds were the result of getting the shit kicked out of him in a drug deal gone wrong.
5. RACIST HATE LETTERS SENT TO BLACK STUDENTS
In 2005, Alicia Hardin convinced authorities that racists were sending hate mail to nonwhite kids in her class. The Chicago school got so spooked, they relocated minority students to a motel. Alicia was sent to jail for sending the letters herself.
6. WHITE COLLEGE STUDENTS GANG-RAPE BLACK GIRL
In 2006 members of the Duke University lacrosse team were accused of gang-raping a black stripper. Everyone from Al Sharpton to local District Attorney Mike Nifong jumped on this “hate crime” and ruined the kids’ lives while stoking racial tension across the nation. In the end, the only people who went to jail were Nifong and the black stripper.
7. NOOSE ON COLUMBIA PROF’S DOOR
In 2007, Columbia professor Madonna Constantine discovered a noose on her office door. She was under investigation for serial plagiarism, and this incident had the potential to turn her from perp to victim. It worked—for a while. Eventually she lost her job and the noose story hit her ass on the way out.
8. CRIME SCENE INCLUDES “NIGGER” WRITTEN IN BLOOD NEXT TO BODY
That same year, Penn State football player and pot dealer Langston Carraway was found stabbed to death with the word NIGGER written next to him in his own blood. The black community was furious the story wasn’t getting more coverage until they learned Carraway was stabbed by another black football player who needed money to pay off some debts (including money owed for a tattoo). Though stories like this represent a tiny fraction of the news, 93% of black murder victims are killed by other blacks.
9. “KILL THE GAY” PAINTED ON LESBIANS’ GARAGE
On Saturday, we learned of two Colorado lesbians who had their garage door vandalized with the hateful slogan above. They felt very passionate about capturing the perpetrator until the police did a scan for spray paint on the lesbian’s hands. One of the lesbians is now being charged with criminal mischief.

(Telegraph) Lesbian couple FAKED hate crime by painting their OWN home with ‘Kill the Gays’ to frame neighbors after spat over dogs
A lesbian couple that claimed their neighbors spray painted ‘Kill the Gay’ on their condo are being accused by the police for doing the deed themselves.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado has issued a warrant for Aimee Whitchurch, 37, and Christel Conklin, 29, for forgery, false reporting and criminal mischief.
In October of 2011, the women claimed they were the victims of a horrible hate crime, saying that members of their Homeowner’s Association threatened their lives, keyed their car and left a noose at their doorstep.
[….]
But an investigation revealed that there was no plot to target the two women, it was all just an apparent cry for attention. Sheriff’s spokesman, Cocha Hedyen
‘Through the investigation and from witness statements, it was determined that allegations of the incident were false,’…
10. “KKK” CARVED ON LAKOTA ELDER
On Monday, demonstrators in Rapid City, SD marched two miles to the local hospital to protest a group of racist surgeons who had carved “KKK” into an American Indian’s stomach during his triple bypass. The police looked into the allegations and couldn’t see the scarring. The “victim” had to admit he couldn’t see it either because he’s blind.
Job Creation Best from Free-Market or Government? plus, FDR vs the Constitution
Via Gay Patriot,
From Zero Hedge,
“Governments are good at creating work, but they are not good at creating value-generating jobs,” is the conclusion from this insightful 3-minute clip from Professor Steve Horwitz. Too often the jobs that politicians ‘create’ are simply to their own benefit. Critically, Horwitz explains that transitions (from agriculture to manufacturing to service to information for instance) are temporarily painful but relatively quickly re-allocated. If, however, politicians attempt to prevent this transition – to stall the free market’s signals – this will halt innovation, growth, and create more poverty (ring any bells). Creating meaningful valuable jobs (something we saw earlier today is not occurring) does not appear too complex – “the best job-creation program in human history is the free market and the entrepreneurship it generates” – it simply means our politicians must get out of the way.
