Mt. Soledad Cross Headed to the Supreme Court? Maybe
Will this fight for a cross wake up American Christians? Gateway has the story:
Leftists Rejoice! A federal judge ruled late Thursday the cross atop Mount Soledad must be removed.
The 29 foot tall cross was erected in 1954 on top of Mount Soledad in La Jolla, California.
The memorial at Mount Soledad also includes plaques of local men and women who lost their lives fighting for this country. (Thomas Moore)
The judge said it’s “unconstitutional.” Todd Starnes at FOX News reported:
A cross atop Mount Soledad in California is an unconstitutional religious display on government land and must come down, a federal judge in San Diego ruled late Thursday.
U.S. District Judge Larry Burns ordered the cross, which honors veterans, must be removed within 90 days — a decision that could result in the case being sent back to the U.S. Supreme Court. Burns immediately stayed his order pending an expected appeal.
[….]
Bruce Bailey, president of the Mt. Soledad Memorial Association, expressed disappointment in the ruling.
“It is unfortunate that the Ninth Circuit left the judge no choice but to order the tearing down of the Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial Cross,” Bailey told Fox News. “However, we are grateful for the judge’s stay that gives us an opportunity to fight this all the way to the Supreme Court.”

Ozone Myths, NASA Says 20-Years of Regulations No Help (Bonus: IPCC Critiqued)
(Heartland Institute) Yet in spite of the hardships caused by the hasty phaseout of CFCs and other suspected ozone-depleting halocarbons, the EPA has never questioned the adequacy of the science that forms the basis for its phaseout policy. The facts are that the scientific underpinnings are quite shaky: the data are suspect; the statistical analyses are faulty; and the theory has not been validated (3,4). The science simply does not support this premature and abrupt removal of widely used chemicals — at great cost to the economy. This fact seems finally to have been recognized by legislators; in early 1995, Republican Congressman from Texas, Tom Delay, introduced a bill, H.R. 475, to repeal the provisions in Title VI of the 1990 Clean Air Act regulating the production and use of CFCs.
Watts Up With That shows that another “scare” that cause massive monetary change in business practices and personal inconvenience was in fact, a fraud, not linked to the ozone hole!
NASA Reveals New Results From Inside the Ozone Hole – Dec. 11, 2013
The area of the ozone hole, such as in October 2013 (above), is one way to view the ozone hole from year to year. However, the classic metrics have limitations.
NASA scientists have revealed the inner workings of the ozone hole that forms annually over Antarctica and found that declining chlorine in the stratosphere has not yet caused a recovery of the ozone hole.
More than 20 years after the Montreal Protocol agreement limited human emissions of ozone-depleting substances, satellites have monitored the area of the annual ozone hole and watched it essentially stabilize, ceasing to grow substantially larger. However, two new studies show that signs of recovery are not yet present, and that temperature and winds are still driving any annual changes in ozone hole size.
“Ozone holes with smaller areas and a larger total amount of ozone are not necessarily evidence of recovery attributable to the expected chlorine decline,” said Susan Strahan of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. “That assumption is like trying to understand what’s wrong with your car’s engine without lifting the hood.”
To find out what’s been happening under the ozone hole’s hood, Strahan and Natalya Kramarova, also of NASA Goddard, used satellite data to peer inside the hole. The research was presented Wednesday at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco.

5-Years of Hate from the `No H8` Movement (Mature Rating ~ Liberals Involved)
This is from NewsBusters, caution, rough language and violent thoughts from the tolerance crowd:
NOH8 Hate
The behavior of Prop 8 opponents before and after the vote made NOH8 immediately ironic to anyone paying attention. In anti-Prop 8 rallies, police took into custody or arrested gay marriage supporters for trying to break police lines, disturbing the peace, jumping on top of police cars, blocking traffic and banging on doors and walls of buildings such as CNN’s Los Angeles bureau by the hundreds. Videos showed activists tearing a cross from an elderly woman’s hands before stomping on it.
Conservative blogger Michelle Malkin later criticized, “Who’s silencing these Prop. 8 opponents? They’re more overexposed than Mariah Carey’s bosom. They can talk and talk and talk without fear of retribution, intimidation, or physical violence.” Malkin cited Prop 8 opponents threatening Catholics and Mormons as well as physically attacking elderly couples. The activists bullied restaurants into supporting them, caused citizens to loose their jobs by targeting those who for donated in support of Prop 8, activists published an “Anti-Gay Black List,” and chanted about church-goers: “Burn their f—ing churches to the ground, and then tax the charred timbers” – and went so far as to key one worshipper’s cars with “Gay sex is love” and “SEX.”
They stormed churches in Michigan to throw condoms, trigger fire alarms, and yell, “Jesus was a homo,” turned “Yes on 8” signs into swastikas, sent anthrax-looking powder to Mormon temples, spray painted churches and private homes, sent serious death threats, and the list goes on.
That’s “NOH8” for you.
The Hypocritical Celebrities
If the grass roots movement wasn’t hypocritical enough, many of the celebrities lending their names to “NOH8” have said, written and tweeted world class hate at those who disagree with them.
Anderson Cooper’s crotch-addicted comedienne Kathy Griffin brandished “NOH8” on her face for a picture. But is really should have read “SOMEH8,” since the self-described “D-lister” isn’t stingy with it when targeting conservatives.
Griffin called Sarah Palin a “nutbag,” Bristol Palin “fat,” and declared “I’d like to push Sarah Palin down the stairs.” Targeting women, Griffin deemed Mass. GOP Sen. Scott Brown’s daughters “prostitutes” and Elisabeth Hasselbeck a “c***” and “bitch.”
But Griffin’s all about “doing the right thing.” In an ad exhorting Californians to vote down Prop 8, she claimed, “No on 8, yes on the legalization of gay marriage. Why? Of course. Because of course. Because of course it should be legal. Really. You didn’t really just ask me that, right? Because if you did, you should be ashamed of yourself.” “Do the right thing.”
Sarah Palin has been a favorite target for the NOH8 h8ers. Comedienne Margaret Cho lamentedthat the GOP is “against our [women’s] rights,” and concluded that Palin was trying to “beat feminism down.” As a preferred alternative to the McCain-Palin ticket, she suggested Satan-Chuck Norris.
Singer Cher, also in on the NOH8, went on a rant over Palin, calling the former Alaska governor a “Dumb C Word,” tweeting, “Go to dictionary,& look up The “C”Word,….next 2 the definition…you’ll see a Pic of Sarah PALIN ! NO…WAIT …SHES UNDER DUMB C WORD.” How original.
Her Palin h8 boasts a long history as she told Vanity Fair in 2010, “I got so obsessed with [C-SPAN] that it was kind of interfering with my life. Sarah Palin came on, and I thought, Oh, f—, this is the end. Because a dumb woman is a dumb woman.”
Not quite the model of civil discourse, Cher also h8’s the “Teapublicans.” Tweet examples from this “NOH8” gal?
✌ WHO THE FUCK DO THESE TBAG (DEVIL INCARNATE) MEMBERS OF GOV.THINK THEY R? PPL R ACTUALLY GOING 2 DIE (cancer trials shut down) & THEY R REASON”. ✌ ANOTHER DEPRESSION,4 ENTIRE WORLD! THEY R TERRIFIED BY OUR GOV.GRIDLOCK, & CAN’T BELIEVE, THE T-BAGS (COMPLETE IMBECILES) CAN HOLD USA HOSTAGE. ✌ WE R NOT HOSTAGES.If UR REPUBLIC IS FREAKING THE WHOLE WORLD OUT, MAYBE WE SHOULD DEEP 6 THEIR WEAK ASS’S.
Other NOH8 stars discarded their pledge when the topic came to politics. NOH8er Meghan McCain, former presidential candidate John McCain’s daughter, named Republicans who support marriage equality only privately “spineless cowards.” NOH8 soap opera actress Nancy Lee Grahncommented during the 2012 vice presidential debate, “Biden is making Paul Ryan his prison bitch!” Actor Hal Sparks somehow managed to get the tape off his mouth long enough to liken the Bush family to Syrian dictators on a liberal radio show.
Actress Aisha Tyler joked that she would like to kick conservative Michelle Malkin in her “nut sack (“wear a cup, lady”) while kicking Rush Limbaugh in his “vagina.” Lance Bass joined Kathy Griffin and Wanda Sykes in blaming conservatives for gay teen suicides.
When a Maryland politician asked the Baltimore Ravens to hush player Brendan Ayanbadejo backing of gay marriage, NOH8er and then-Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe composed a letter saying, “I find it inconceivable that you are an elected official of Maryland’s state government. Your vitriolic hatred and bigotry make me ashamed and disgusted to think that you are in any way responsible for shaping policy at any level.”
Kluwe then really revved up his NOH8-inspired tolerance. “If gay marriage becomes legal, are you worried that all of a sudden you’ll start thinking about penis? ‘Oh shit. Gay marriage just passed. Gotta get me some of that hot dong action!’” to conclude, “P.S. I’ve also been vocal as hell about the issue of gay marriage so you can take your ‘I know of no other NFL player who has done what Mr. Ayanbadejo is doing’ and shove it in your close-minded, totally lacking in empathy piehole and choke on it. Asshole.”
Kluwe is now out of the NFL, and presumably not pursuing a second career in conflict resolution.
To the NOH8 crowd, anyone opposed to gay marriage was free game. TV actress Fran Dreschersaid actor Kirk Cameron needed to “reexamine what it is to be an American” when he came out against gay marriage. Another NOH8 star, Glee actress Jane Lynch not only mocked the tea party for being anti-Latina but also, during Comedy Central’s Roseanne Barr Roast, declared, “F–k Chick-fil-A” for their opposition to gay marriage.
Sex columnist and anti-blullying bully Dan Savage and the NOH8 Campaign deny a connection. However, journalists have pointed out otherwise and NOH8 even conducted a video to support Savage’s “It Gets Better” campaign. Savage practices NOH8 by unleashing on ‘Catholic-fucking bishops, priests, cardinals’ for their traditional marriage stances. He’s explained: “the church – my church, the Catholic Church, the Mormon church, has always taken this position that sex is for providing more worshipful, sort of zombie-eyed followers for Jesus.” He also deemed Pope Benedict, “That Motherfucking Power-Hungry, Self-Aggrandized Bigot In the Stupid Fucking Hat.”

Via Gateway Pundit:
Meanwhile, via Moonbat, “$348,000 Apiece for ObamaCare Enrollees in Obama’s Alleged State of Birth“!
Only 574 Hawaiians have signed up for Obamacare – at a cost to the federal government of roughly $348,000 apiece.
Well, maybe not quite 574 Hawaiians…
[T]he Hawaii Reporter quotes sources familiar with the exchange’s website saying that enrollment figure is an overstatement, because the site doesn’t always properly transfer information to insurers. Insurers thus haven’t processed all the enrollments, and applications can be submitted multiple times.
However many people signed up, they had better like their one-size-fits-all socialist medical insurance, because it didn’t come cheap.
The Hawaii state government paid CGI Federal — the same contractor that built the disastrous HealthCare.gov — $53 million to build the website, which didn’t launch till October 15. The federal government gave the state $200 million in total to set up the exchange, including money to be spent on marketing and outreach.
Six-Year Old Boys and `Slut Walks` ~ Whatch-U-Talkin-Bout Willis!?
Gay Patriot has an interesting take that I thought of myself after listening to a story on the radio, that is, would they have been as adamant if it were a boy kissing another boy on the hand?
Item No. 1: A little six year old boy in Colorado — which is lately giving Florida a run for its money as America’s nutjob state — has been suspended from school and labeled a sexual harasser for the sexcrime of kissing a little girl on the cheek. Because school administrators must always be on the lookout for potentially anti-social behavior are idiotic and insane.
Why do I feel like if he had kissed another little boy on the cheek, he’d have been given a school award and a guest spot on the Ellen DeGeneres show?
In point number two of GP’s post he points out that the Left is trying to make even looking at women a crime! to which he adds the following commentary:
And isn’t it positively deranged that the same people who champion “slut walks“* excoriate men for paying attention to women’s bodies? It’s like the left is saying, “We champion the right of women to dress like sluts, but any man who looks at them is a thought-rapist who must be punished!”
*This link leads to pictures of scantily clad San Francisco feminists. You have been warned.
[I wish to add that is you go to page 2 and 3 of “slut walk,” you get some propaganda bonuses… also viewable as a single page.]
Just to make the point clear… the LEFT is crazy! Doesn’t matter if you are gay or straight… just the Left in general!
Feminist author Ti-Grace Atkinson shows her true autonomy when stating, “the institution of sexual intercourse is anti-feminist.”[1] Marilyn French, feminist author calls all men rapists: “All men are rapists and that’s all they are. They rape us with their eyes, their laws, and their codes.”[2] Let us allow Gloria Steinen, feminist extraordinaire, to set the stage with the following praises about her contemporary, Andrea Dworkin, “In every century, there are a handful of writers who help the human race to evolve. Andrea is one of them.”[3] Why preface Andrea Dworkin? Because she has this to say about men in general: “Heterosexual intercourse is the pure, formalized expression of contempt for women’s bodies.”[4]
…A Feminist Dictionary,[5] whose definitions are self-explanatory:
Male: “… represents a variant of or deviation from the category of female. The first males were mutants… the male sex represents a degeneration and deformity of the female.”
Man: “… an obsolete life form… an ordinary creature who needs to be watched … a contradictory baby-man.”
Testosterone Poisoning: “Until now it has been thought that the level of testosterone in men is normal simply because they have it. But if you consider how abnormal their behavior is, then you are led to the hypothesis that almost all men are suffering from ‘testosterone poisoning.’”
[1] Daniel Dervin, Enactments: American Modes and Psychohistorical Models (Madison, NJ: Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, 1996), 244; another telling quote comes directly from Atkinson’s own biography, Amazon Odyssey:
The price of clinging to the enemy [a man] is your life. To enter into a relationship with a man who has divested himself as completely and publicly from the male role as much as possible would still be a risk. But to relate to a man who has done any less is suicide…. I, personally, have taken the position that I will not appear with any man publicly, where it could possibly be interpreted that we were friends.

In fucking, as in reproduction, sex and economics are inextricably joined. In male-supremacist cultures, women are believed to embody carnality; women are sex. A man wants what a woman has – sex. He can steal it outright (prostitution), lease it over the long term (marriage in the United States), or own it outright (marriage in most societies). A man can do some or all of the above, over and over again.

GOP Rep. Challenges John Kerry About President Obama`s Shaking the `BLOODY HAND` of Raul Castro
Video description from original file, you can also read more at PJ-Tatler:
Florida Rep. Reminds John Kerry President Obama Shook ‘Bloody Hand’ of Raul Castro at Nelson Mandela Funeral 12/10/2013
During a congressional hearing on Tuesday, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) asked Secretary of State John Kerry pointedly about President Barack Obama’s reportedly spontaneous handshake with Cuban leader Raul Castro. She accused the Cuban dictator of possessing “bloody hands” used to brutally repress his people. Kerry, for his part, agreed that Cuba’s human rights record is problematic.
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) is questioned about President Obama’s handshake with Raul Castro
“It gives Raul some propaganda to continue to prop up dictatorial, brutal regime, that’s all it is, Why should you shake hands with somebody who’s keeping Americans in prison?”
Marc Morano of Climate Depot Slices and Dices AGW Apologist
The gentleman Mr. Morano was responding to in the video below is the Director of the Sierra Club, Michael Brune. Brune made the point that receiving money from oil and gas was bad. Morano turned the tables not by arguing that oil and gas do not in fact give monies to these groups… instead he used the premise Brune put forward to his advantage:
✦ Implied premise by Brune: “It is bad to receive money from oil/gas”;
✦ Morano’s implied premise: “Okay, fine, if bad for ‘a,’ why not ‘b’.”
“….he’s [Brune] mentioning funding by the way which I think is funny. The Sierra Club took 26 million from natural gas and Michael has the audacity to try to imply that skeptics are fossil fuel funded.”
Oooops!
See Climate Depot
Here is the New York Times on the issue of the Sierra Club taking “dirty” money (see also Time Magazine’s revelation on the matter):
The recent disclosure of the Sierra Club’s secret acceptance of $26 million in donations from people associated with a natural gas company has revived an uncomfortable debate among environmental groups about corporate donations and transparency.
The gifts from the company, Chesapeake Energy, have drawn criticism from some environmentalists. “Sleeping with the enemy” was a comment much forwarded on Twitter posts about the undisclosed arrangement.
“Runners shouldn’t smoke, priests shouldn’t touch the kids, and environmentalists should never take money from polluters,” John Passacantando, a former director of Greenpeace who is now an environmental consultant, said in an interview.
Yet the donations to the Sierra Club, reported by Time magazine’s Ecocentric blog and a blog called Corporate Crime Reporter, have plenty of precedents. Between 2004 and 2006, the National Audubon Society accepted $2.1 million from the chemical giant Monsanto to find a strategy for ensuring the safety of waterfowl near industrial farms using pesticides, for example.
The Environmental Defense Fund was an early adopter of the partnership model, working two decades ago with McDonald’s to stop using polystyrene clamshells for packaging, thus eliminating tens of thousands of tons of waste. Later it teamed with Fedex to reduce the emissions of its truck fleet. But it accepts no donations from corporate partners, its leadership says.
(Via Common Sense Evaluation) Electric cars might pollute much more than petrol or diesel-powered cars, according to new research.
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology study found greenhouse gas emissions rose dramatically if coal was used to produce the electricity.
Electric car factories also emitted more toxic waste than conventional car factories, their report in the Journal of Industrial Ecology said.
“The production phase of electric vehicles proved substantially more environmentally intensive,” the report said, comparing it to how petrol and diesel cars are made.
“The global warming potential from electric vehicle production is about twice that of conventional vehicles.”…..
Here is a past encounter (January 2013) between Morano and Brune, Via Climate Depot:
PIERS MORGAN, HOST:
President Obama is making the fight against extreme weather part of his second term agenda. He believes that science proves it has a human cause. With me now is Marc Morano, editor in chief of ClimateDepot.com, and Michael Brune. He’s the executive director of the Sierra Club.
Welcome to you both. Michael — Marc, I’ll start with you. When I last spoke to you about this, we had a pretty fiery debate about it. And you were impeccably opposed to any suggestion that there’s any real science to confirm global warming or genuine climate change. So rather than me get involved with this, I’m going to rest my weary voice box and let Michael tell you why there is science.
Michael, over to you.
MICHAEL BRUNE, THE SIERRA CLUB:
Sure, well, actually I don’t want to waste any time on this. The science is settled. We noticed that last year we had record numbers of wildfires throughout the Mountain West, as you cited; 61 percent of the country suffered a crippling drought. We had Superstorm Sandy with 1,000-mile diameter storm hitting the east coast, flooded my parents house, caused billions of dollars worth of damage.
The reality is that extreme weather is here. Our climate has begun to be destabilized. The good news is that we can do something about it. We have solutions to the cause of climate change. And those solutions will both help keep our families safe and help our economy grow at the same time.
MORGAN:
OK. Marc, there you have it. What do you say to that?
MARC MORANO, CLIMATEDEPOT.COM:
I say you look at the peer reviewed literature. We now know a study in journal “Nature” show that there’s 60 years, no trend in droughts. In fact, there was a decline in droughts in the U.S., except the most recent one in 2012, which wasn’t even as big as the one in the 1950s or the 1930s.
In terms of flood, 80 to 117 [correction 127] years, there’s no trend in floods. Big tornadoes are down dramatically since the 1950s — F3 or larger. And hurricanes, eight years now — the longest period without a major land falling category 3 or larger hurricane. Eight years, the longest stetch since 1900. So if you start looking at these measures —
MORGAN:
Answer me this point. You wouldn’t dispute there’s been increased acceleration in CO2, right?
MORANO:
No, CO2 is rising. Global temperature has now stalled for 15 or 16 years. And that is — now James Hanson of NASA has admitted at least decade of no warming, or as he said flat lining temperatures. This is an embarrassment right now.
So the whole movement has shifted to extreme storms. That’s what they’re trying to focus on now. Evidence is everywhere when you look for extremes. But the bottom line is we have always had extreme weather. In the 1970s, the CIA report and “Newsweek” and all the people worried about a coming Ice Age blamed extreme weather, droughts and bad weather and crop failure on global cooling. Now they have reversed and they are blaming the same phenomenon on global warming. It’s very convenient.
