Something Smells in D.C. | Timelines and Unmaskings

SOOPERMEXICAN has this video and commentary on this new detail to the uncovering of information regarding some private — legal mind you — conversations in the Trump administration:

…What it comes down to is this – Comey had a memo talking about how he was thinking of not charging Hillary, but that was before he had interviewed two dozen witnesses, including Hillary herself. Gowdy says he wants to straighten this out, and that might include making Comey testify again and explain the order of events…

POWERLINE has a good short post on the subject as well:

It has been reported that Samantha Power, while serving as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, requested or initiated a request for more than 260 unmaskings of Americans whose conversations were picked up during surveillance. But today, according to Rep. Trey Gowdy,Power denied making anything close to that number of unmasking requests.

Here is what Gowdy told Fox News’ Bret Baier:

BAIER: You are also looking, and have talked to the former Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power. We reported that she requested or her officer requested 260 plus efforts to unmask, in other words, get who was talking about picked up in surveillance. How did she answer that question? Why so many?

GOWDY: Well, I’ll tell you broadly, Bret, I think if she was on your show, she would say those attempt to unmask may have been attributed to her. But they greatly exceed, by an exponential factor, the number of requests that she actually made.

I assume Gowdy is accurately characterizing Power’s testimony. I don’t assume Power is telling the truth, but she may be.

If she is, I agree with Gowdy who also told Baier, “We’ve got to get to the bottom of that.”….

|BOOM| FBI Case Against Hillary Re-Opened!

  1. fbi-hillary-1-clearMaybe it is because the 100[+] FBI agents that worked on the case are pissed there was no indictment, because THEY KNEW there was enough evidence for a criminal act (according to Federal statutes)?
  2. Or maybe it was because of Gowdy and Chaffetz (and others — THE DREAM TEAM) made the Director look like an amateur in public?
  3. Or the outrage from the public?

WHATEVER IT WAS/IS, here is the story about the case being…

*drumb-roll please*

…re-opened (h-t Reggie Dunlop):

The DAILY CALLER has this:

In a development that could shake up an already unpredictable presidential race, the FBI is re-opening its investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails.

“In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation,” FBI director James Comey wrote in an letter to members of Congress released Friday. “I am writing to inform you that the investigative team briefed me on this yesterday, and I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation.”

“Although the FBI cannot yet assess whether or not this material may be significant, and I cannot predict how long it will take us to complete this additional work, I believe it is important to update your committees about our efforts in light of my previous testimony,” Comey wrote.

He added: “In previous congressional testimony, I referred to the fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had completed its investigation of former Secretary Clinton’s personal email server. Due to recent developments, I am writing to supplement my previous testimony.”

Speaking in Manchester, N.H. after the news broke, Republican nominee Donald Trump told an exuberant crowd the news, saying: “They are re-opening the case into her criminal and illegal conduct that threatens the security of the United States of America.”

Reacting to the news, House Speaker Paul Ryan wrote: “I renew my call for the Director of National Intelligence to suspend all classified briefings for Secretary Clinton until this matter is fully resolved.”

Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, revealed the news on Twitter on Friday: “FBI Dir just informed me, ‘The FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation.’ Case reopened.”….

(DAILY CALLER)

And this from WAPO:

FBI TO CONDUCT NEW INVESTIGATION OF EMAILS FROM CLINTON’S PRIVATE SERVER

The FBI will investigate whether additional classified material is contained in emails sent using Hillary Clinton’s private email server while she was secretary of state, FBI director James Comey informed congressional leaders Friday.

The announcement appears to restart the FBI’s probe of Clinton’s server, less than two weeks before the presidential election, an explosive development that could shape the campaign’s final days.

In a letter to congressional leaders, Comey said that the FBI had, in connection with an “unrelated case,” recently “learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the Clinton investigation.”

Comey indicated that he had been briefed on the new material yesterday. “I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation,” he wrote.

The FBI had previously closed its investigation in July with no charges, though Comey had concluded there had been classified content exchanged on the server and that Clinton had been “extremely careless.”….

The Dream Team vs. FBI Director Comey (New)

With the recent no-show of the guy who set-up Hillary’s server, and the pleading of the fifth by her people… the pressure is back on Comey and what they hell he even does at the FBI.

Video Description:

FBI Comey testifies again as a result of the recent document releases from the FBI. He appears much more defensive than I have ever seen him before. Ratcliffe is brutal. Issa catches Comey in a lie about the immunity agreements. Jordan, Chaffetz, and Gowdy once again just can’t believe how an indictment wasn’t warranted.

What I find interesting is the fact that the FBI is not saying who at the FBI is authorizing the release of the documents, but then Comey gets raked over the coals again. Why is the FBI even leaking these documents when they know it is going to further discredit them. Something just doesn’t make sense. There must be something significant going on behind the scenes. Like I said before, it appears that Hillary is being thrown under the bus.

The hearing was about 4 hours. They used the usually 5min rule back and forth across party lines. I edited down to 22min picking what I thought was the most relevant testimony from the usual dynamic characters. Ratcliffe was a surprise. Don’t know much about him, but he was fun to watch!

Larry Elder on the Non-Indictment of Hillary Clinton

A worthy opening segment from Larry Elder on the FBI Director James Comey non-indictment of Hillary Clinton. Two erstwhile videos to watch are:

  • Rudy Giuliani is surprised by, disagrees with Comey (Morning Joe)
  • Former prosecutor Joe Digenova: Comey’s conclusion is absolutely bizarre (CNBC)

These People Are suppose to Protect Us (Clueless DHS Official)

I feel bad for Miss Burriesci, but she needs to be fired. One of her bosses may have thrown her to the wolves… but regardless. This is her title, so you WOULD think she would know… something?

  • Deputy Assistant Secretary for Screening Coordination, Office of Policy, Department of Homeland Security

Above video description:

You would think the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Screening Coordination, Office of Policy, Department of Homeland Security would have the answers to these questions, but nope. Now here’s the best part. She became so flustered by the questioning that she accidentally referred to the K-1 visa program as the “KY” program while being questioned by Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC): Clueless DHS official has no answers on immigration; so flustered calls K1 visa program ‘KY’. — Clueless is an understatement.

Above video description:

It is becoming frighteningly apparent how clueless the Obama administration is when it comes to who is entering this country. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Screening Coordination, Office of Policy of the United States Department of Homeland Security, Kelli Burriesci appeared before the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on Thursday and had no answers to some extremely simple questions. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-OH summed it up thusly:

Ms. Burriesci, I’ve asked you the number of American’s who’ve traveled to Syria, you don’t know. The number of Americans who may have traveled and returned, you don’t know. The number of Syrian refugees who’ve entered the country in the last year, you don’t know. The number of visa waiver program overstays, you don’t know. The number of visa waiver overstays who may have been to Syria before they came here, you don’t know. And the number of American citizens on the no-fly list and you don’t know. And yet you are the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Screening Coordination, Office of Policy, Department of Homeland Security in front of the oversight committee and you can’t give us one single number to some, I think, pretty basic questions?

“An Amazingly Scandal-Free Administration” ~ David Brooks

One just has to shake one’s head at the gullibility of the left (the right is not immune to it either!) in this Rachel “Madcow” blog-post: “An Amazingly Scandal-Free Administration” (h/t to a friend):

…New York Times columnist David Brooks, a center-right pundit, highlighted a notable exception.

“I have my disagreements, say, with President Obama, but President Obama has run an amazingly scandal-free administration, not only he himself, but the people around him. He’s chosen people who have been pretty scandal-free.

“And so there are people in Washington who do set a standard of integrity, who do seem to attract people of quality.”

[….]

It’s even a point of pride among insiders. David Axelrod recently boasted, “I’m proud of the fact that basically you have had an administration in this place for six years in which there hasn’t been a major scandal. And I think that says a lot about the ethical strictures of this administration.”…

More like a complicit Press and people in high places covering up. And much to Cummings chagrin, an oversight connection to the Obama administration and the IRS scandal has already been made. Here The Blaze reports on this article before Maddow highlights it:

…Let us set aside these events:

  1. Two officers found in contempt for lying to Congress.
  2. One officer being impeached.
  3. Veterans dying on waiting lists.
  4. Solyndra.
  5. Wiretapping reporters.
  6. Unconstitutionally rewriting our immigration laws.
  7. Fast and Furious.

Four other scandals, however, undermine the character of a free nation.

Article II in the Resolution of Impeachment against President Richard Nixon reads:

  • “He has … acting personally and through his subordinates and agents, endeavored to obtain from the Internal Revenue Service … confidential information contained in income tax returns for purposes not authorized by law.”

That was a scandal and Nixon was forced to resign.

The Obama administration has used the IRS to harass political opponents, to audit contributors to opponent’s campaigns and to abuse private information for political purposes.

The IRS officer responsible refused to testify before Congress and was voted in contempt. A criminal referral was sent to the DOJ and it was ignored.

The Commissioner of the IRS lied under oath and articles of impeachment for the commissioner have been filed.

No scandal here. Move along.

Gay Patriot has a post that has a great insight by Theodore Dalrymple that while used for a different purpose, fits here as well:

  • “In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is…in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.” ~ Theodore Dalrymple

This understanding is enforced by Rachel “Madcow’s” own words when she aligns herself as more radical than one of the worlds most notorious propagandists/murderers in history! Mao Zedong  the total number of dead from 1959 to 1961 was between 30 million and 40 million!

Um… wow!

Here are some of the Presidents scandals for contemplation:

MRCTV notes the Top-Twenty-Five-Hits list of scandals… Obama still had 31/2 years to go (via Natural News):

  1. Going to war in Libya without first seeking congressional approval.
  2. Bypassing Congress to issue an illegal executive order granting amnesty to illegal aliens, and ignoring the court order not to implement the order.
  3. Canceling the border fence and other border security programs.
  4. The administration’s betrayal of the primary GM investors so he could give the company to his buddies in the UAW.
  5. Offering Joe Sestak a White House job to drop out of the Senate race against Arlen Specter
  6. The IRS targeting of conservative/tea party groups
  7. Offering Andrew Romanoff a White House job to drop out of the Senate Race against Michael Bennett.
  8. Dropping an already already-won case against the New Black Panthers.
  9. Refusing to prosecute African Americans for Civil Rights violations.
  10. Ignoring a court order to ease up on restrictions against deep water drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and, instead, issuing tougher restrictions.
  11. Circumventing the Senate by setting up a “shadow cabinet” of Czars.
  12. Lying about the safety of admitting refugees into the country.
  13. Obama’s Justice Department’s refusal to defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), thus ignoring his constitutional responsibility to defend laws passed by Congress.
  14. Firing (and slandering) AmeriCorps inspector general Gerald Walpin after because he was investigating Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson a friend of the Obamas.
  15. Practicing crony capitalism and wasting taxpayer money with Green energy loans to Solyndra and other failing companies.
  16. A No-bid contract given to a company owned by a major Obama donor for a small pox vaccine that doesn’t work.
  17. Fast and Furious: Giving guns to Mexican drug cartels in an attempt to take away guns from law-abiding Americans.
  18. Lying to America and the world by claiming a YouTube video caused the Benghazi attack.
  19. Receiving foreign donations for his 2012 campaign.
  20. Slashing the pensions of Delphi’s non-union employees leaving the UAW employees‘ pensions alone.
  21. Purchasing bullets to drive up costs/empty supply.
  22. Prosecuting Thomas Drake, an NSA whistle-blower who leaked unclassified information about government waste and fraud.
  23. Trading five Taliban “generals” for Bowe Bergdahl without giving Congress the 30 days notice required by law.
  24. Ignoring ISIS in 2012, because it didn’t fit his reelection theme
  25. Using the NSA to spy on congressional discussions with Israeli PM Netanyahu.

For another recap, here is Poor Richards summation:

Remember a very left leaning professor of law and a well known/trusted leftist legal theoretician said this of Obama:

You know what they say when you get the far ends of each side to agree… it’s probably true:

Looks Like “Servergate” Is Sinking “Hilldabeast”

This comes by way of Libertarian Republican:

LR:

From Politico yesterday (Shockingly awful photo of Clinton at this Politico link, perhaps the worst ever?):

Hillary Clinton wiped “clean” the private server housing emails from her tenure as secretary of state, the chairman of the House committee investigating the 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi said Friday.

“While it is not clear precisely when Secretary Clinton decided to permanently delete all emails from her server, it appears she made the decision after October 28, 2014, when the Department of State for the first time asked the Secretary to return her public record to the Department,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), chairman of the Select Committee on Benghazi, said in a statement.

Now juxtapose this information from Politico, with the UN press conference statement she made clear as a Chappaqua spring day, in the video above.

Western Journalism reminds us that a lifelong Democrat painted her as a liar years ago and fired her for it:

…Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, supervised the work of 27-year-old Hillary Rodham on the committee. Hillary got a job working on the investigation at the behest of her former law professor, Burke Marshall, who was also Sen. Ted Kennedy’s chief counsel in the Chappaquiddick affair. When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman’s 17-year career.

Why?

“Because she was a liar,” Zeifman said in an interview last week. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.”…

This is all good news of course… even CBS has noted the following (via The Washington Free Beacon):

Trey Gowdy Grills Jonathan Gruber ~ Truth 1/Gruber 0

“The pervasiveness of your quotes is so much that it has to be more than that. It has to be more than an episodic mistake that you made,” Gowdy grilled. He went on, “What did you mean when you said you wish that you had been able to be transparent, but you’d rather have the law than not?”
