Saba Ahmed Not So Moderate After-All ~ Fire & Ice

Libertarian Republican updates an older story on RPT about Saba Ahmed, the Muslim woman at the Heritage event:

A few weeks ago, a Muslim woman, Saba Ahmed, gained some attention by defending “peaceful Muslims” at a Heritage Foundation panel on holding our government responsible for the attack on our Ambassador in Libya. There are one point something billion Muslims, she said, the majority of whom are peaceful. So, westerners must be careful to distinguish particular Muslims who break the law from the majority of Muslims. 

Well, now comes a photo of this person – at the time, uneventful – leaving the courtroom with Mohamed Osman Mohamud who was charged with attempting to set off a car bomb at a Christmas Tree lighting ceremony in Portland, Oregon. Having been found guilty of the offense in a court of law, we can suppose that Mohamud is guilty of other offenses of which he has been suspected but not formally charged, such as raping a woman at Oregon State University. So what that there was probable cause to believe this man was a rapist and an attempted murderer, says Saba Ahmed, what is important is to show solidarity with a fellow Muslim.

Saba, I accuse you of denying the One True God and putting your co-religionists ahead of His laws and – even! – of claiming to represent Him when you defend rapists and murderers.

According to Erick Erickson of RedState.com,

“Saba Ahmed has been arrested for stalking and her family claims she was diagnosed with a mental disorder. She’s also been active at Occupy rallies denouncing American war efforts. She has made opposition to the American war against terrorism a key part of what she does.” 

Oregon Live wrote that she is running for a Congressional seat in Oregon. She switched parties in 2012 after a primary defeat for an Oregon senate seat, and ran as a “conservative Republican.” With a hijab of course…

In that post, USMC simply asks after noting that Saba Ahmed is a friend of a man who tried to bomb Portland, Oregon… if she is TRULY a Moderate Muslim? 54° 40′ Or Fight has this on the “mental” disorder thingy:

Ahmed has a documented history of mental illness and a habit of stalking conservative and Republican web pages and meetings.  After Osama Bin Laden’s death in May, Ahmed claimed she had to cancel a fictitious rally in Pioneer Courthouse Square (which she never advertised or got a permit for), falsely asserting that she had received threats on the Oregon Tea Party Facebook page.

A cursory search of the internet shows that Saba Ahmed has been arrested several times, and has had at least one visit to a psychiatric hospital.

HotAir notes Saba’s background as well: “She is same Saba Ahmed that tried to win the Democratic nomination to the US House of Representatives in the 2012 cycle, only to change party affiliation to the GOP after drawing less than one percent of the Democratic vote…”

So did “POVERTY” drive terrorism, as Toure says? Lets start with National Review’s article, How Khalid Learned His ABCs:

While in North Carolina, Khalid Mohammed may have had contact with Ali A. Mohamed, another key bin Laden operative who enrolled at an officer-training course for green berets at Fort Bragg in 1981 and gathered intelligence for al Qaeda as a U.S. Army sergeant before being convicted of participating in the African-embassy bombing plot.

According to intelligence officials, Mohammed applied his American education to organize the 1993 World Trade Center bombing plot (six Americans dead), the U.S.S. Cole attack (17 American soldiers dead), and the September 11 attacks (3,000 dead). He has also been linked to the 1998 African-embassy bombings (212 dead, including 12 Americans), the plot to kill the pope, the murder last year of American journalist Daniel Pearl, and the Bali nightclub bomb blast last fall that killed nearly 200 tourists last fall, including two more Americans.

Elite U.S. colleges and universities continue to help train students from America’s most hostile enemy countries. Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Sudan — all official state sponsors of terrorism — sent nearly 10,000 students to the U.S. on academic visas between 1991 and 1996 alone. In the 2000-2001 school year, Mohammed’s native Kuwait sent a total of 3,045 undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate, and other students to the U.S. His adopted homeland, Pakistan, sent nearly 7,000 students here. Osama bin Laden’s native Saudi Arabia sent more than 5,000 students. Mohamed Atta’s native Egypt sent nearly 2,300.

Between 1989 and 1995, nearly 100 Middle Easterners paid bribes to community-college teachers and administrators in San Diego — the home base for at least two September 11 hijackers — in exchange for counterfeit admission papers and grades, which allowed them to get student visas. The mastermind of the scheme, Iranian-American businessman Sam Koutchesfahani, pled guilty to visa fraud in 1998, along with officials from six colleges. The whereabouts of his “students,” who poured a total of $350,000 into the plot, remain unknown….

The third article for review is likewise by Malkin, and is entitled, “The myth of the poor, oppressed jihadist,” clearly showing that the “jihadi-as-victim canard to the trash bin of deadly dhimmitude.”

The Independent of London has a piece up today on the wealthy, pampered lifestyle of would-be Christmas Day bomber Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab.

The Nigerian elite enginnering student studied at one of Britain’s leading universities, “lived a gilded life” and “stayed in a £2m flat.”

The Independent says Abdulmatallab’s privileged status is “surprising” — “a very different background to many of the other al-Qa’ida recruits who opt for martyrdom.”

Actually, there’s nothing surprising about it. The only surprise is that so many supposedly informed people — from British journalists to our own commander-in-chief — continue to perpetuate the myth of the poor, oppressed jihadist.

Abdulmutallab isn’t the first terrorist admitted to a Western institution of higher learning who spread fundamentalist Islam on campus.

Boko Haram Kidnapped Girls Because of… Yep… Global Warming

Britain’s Guardian newspaper has come up with a novel explanation for the kidnapping of over 200 schoolgirls in Nigeria. (h/t Marc Morano)

Conventional analyses have pinned the blame on the Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram (which means: “Western education is forbidden”). But according to the Guardian’s Nafeez Ahmed, the real culprit is ‘climate change.’

After Breitbart quotes a bit from this article, they continue to point out that the author, Nafeez Ahmed, is a 9/11 truther as well:

The article is by no means Ahmed’s first attempt to exculpate Islamist terrorists’ actions by implying that the West is, in fact, mainly to blame. He is also a 9/11 Truther.

In fact, overwhelming evidence confirms that al-Qaeda networks in the Middle East, Central Asia, the Balkans, the Caucasus and the Asia-Pacific, have been penetrated and manipulated by Western intelligence services. Conspiraloonery? If only it was. As I argue in my 3rd book, The War on Truth: 9/11, Disinformation and the Anatomy of Terrorism (2005), the evidence for this is extremely well-documented, deriving from innumerable, credible intelligence sources. But why? Largely to destabilize regional environments to pave the way for new “security” policies that serve to protect not people, but foreign investors taking over regional markets — especially markets with significant oil and gas deposits.

Ahmed’s work has been praised by luminaries including left-wing journalist John Pilger, who wrote:

It’s headlined Time To Wake Up: the Climate Denial Beast and reports on a speech made by Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, warning on the extent to which evil climate denialists are funded to pump out their vile propaganda by the agents of Big Oil.

Senator Whitehouse invites us to be shocked by the fact that, according to research by some activist or other at a German university, “from 2003 to 2010, 140 foundations made grants totaling $558 million to 91 organizations that actively oppose climate action.”…

What a N.Y. Liberal Can Say on Glenn Beck & Not On CNN/MSNBC

The author has recently published a book titled Sharia-ism Is Here: The Battle to Control Women and Everyone Else. She said her book separates Islam from the controlling and abusive politics on top of it.

It is estimated, she said, that hundreds of thousands have suffered female genital mutilation and forced marriages in the United States.

“Girls … are being sent over to Pakistan, over to Sudan, marrying some strange relative and bringing that relative back,” Brighton remarked. “And now she’s under the thumb of a Sharia-ist. She doesn’t even experience Islam, the religion! She experiences control.”

Brighton said the biggest difference between Islam and Sharia-ism is the latter is a “political movement to control,” not unlike communism or fascism, and added that the only reason the ideology has been able to survive in the United States this long is because it has has the “cover of religion,” and an enormous number of “petrodollars.”

The website of the Muslim American Society’s Arizona chapter praises the Muslim Brotherhood as “a great Islamic movement” even though the group’s stated purpose is to wage jihad in order to institute sharia-based governance. The website also quotes Hassan al-Banna, the founder of the Brotherhood.

In 2008, federal prosecutors said that the Muslim American Society (MAS) “was founded as the overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in America.” This was confirmed by Abdurrahman Alamoudi, a convicted terrorist and admitted U.S. Muslim Brotherhood member, who said in 2012, “Everyone knows that MAS is the Muslim Brotherhood.”

The implications of this find are about more than MAS, though.

This MAS chapter shares an address with Masjid Es-Salaam, a mosque in the city of Chandler, Arizonia.   According to the Salatomatic.comwebsite, MAS-AZ isn’t only based out of the mosque — it is actually “operated” by the chapter. This is supported by a photo of a sign on the mosque that identifies it as a “MAS Community & Youth Center.”

The mosque also houses the headquarters of the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ Arizona chapter. The U.S. government identified the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity in 2007 when it designated the organization as an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorism-financing trial.

Black Widow and the Winter Olympics ~ Russia

Russian security forces are searching Sochi for a suspected terrorist who is feared to be planning to target the Olympic Games, according to a notice distributed throughout the city.

A description distributed to hotels in the area says that the FSB, Russia’s internal security service, has received information that Ruzanna Ibragimova, the widow of an insurgent “neutralised” by security forces, may have travelled from Dagestan to the Sochi area on January 11 or 12.

“According to our information Ms Ibragimova may be used by the ring leaders of illegal armed groups for the organisation of terrorist acts in the zone of the 2014 Olympics,” the notice says.

While the notice does not mention the term, the widows of fighters killed in the on-going conflict between Islamist separatists and Russian forces in the North Caucasus have been used in the past as suicide bombers.

Russia has deployed 40,000 police and security personnel in a “ring of steel” around Sochi to deter attacks by Islamist militants from the nearby North Caucasus republics.
