Michael Coren Interviews Liberal Film Maker and Former Contributor to Daily Kos, Eric Allen Bell, About His Change of Heart on Islam

Allen Bell is a liberal film maker and former contributor to the Daily Kos who, while in the process of making a film demonizing small-town American opposition to the building of a mosque in their town, had his whole world change once he started reading up on islam. Bell has since seen the light but in the process has been viciously turned on by the Left and islamofascists.

David Horowitz wrote about this whole indecent at his JihadWatch site:

Recently two extraordinary articles have appeared at the Daily Kos — extraordinary because, to the rage and dismay of many of that site’s commenters and regular readers — they depart from the standard Leftist line that Islamic jihad violence has nothing whatsoever to do with Islam, even if jihadists invoke Islamic texts and teachings to justify that violence, and that only greasy Islamophobes think otherwise.

The articles are “Loonwatch.com and Radical Islam” and “How and Why Loonwatch.com is a Terrorist Spin Control Network,” both by Eric Allen Bell, who is so far from being a “right-wing Islamophobe” that he made a documentary about the “Islamophobia” supposedly being suffered by the proponents of a huge new mosque in Murfreesboro, Tennessee — and is far enough to the Left to get space to write at the Daily Kos.

Yet Bell had the intellectual honesty to make this entirely true observation about the hate and defamation site that is the subject of his pieces: “But for LoonWatch.com any criticism of the Koran or of violent Jihad – even those criticisms that might have some legitimacy to them – even of radical Islam, are branded as Islamophobia and anyone who dares to raise questions about the nearly constant acts of Jihad going on increasingly around the world today is labeled a ‘Loon’ – thus the title of their blog, LoonWatch.com.”

Since I am the subject of obsessive attention at Loonwatch, I am mentioned in the original article as well as in the followup, which Bell wrote after Islamic supremacists and their Leftist tools rounded upon him with predictable and ludicrous charges that he is a right-wing anti-Muslim bigot. I have a few disagreements with his view of me and of the jihad threat in general. He says I have some kind of religious agenda here, which anyone who reads this site will know is false. While I am a religious believer, Jihad Watch is not a religious apologetics site, but a non-sectarian site seeking to provide the context for a broad coalition of people of all perspectives — atheists, Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims of conscience — who are threatened by Islamic jihad. He dismissively distances himself from my colleague Pamela Geller, ignoring her courageous and pioneering work in, among many other things, raising awareness about the human rights abuses in Islamic law, such as honor killing and the death penalty for apostasy. And he seems to be a bit credulous in accepting the smooth deceptions of Muslim Brotherhood-linked forces behind the building of many mega-mosques around the country, and about the stealth jihad in general.

Nonetheless, I was intrigued by Bell’s capacity for independent thought, which is such a rare commodity these days, and willingness to acknowledge that there is a problem within Islam, which is even rarer, so I sent him a note, telling him: “I predict that you will not find anyone on the Left who will be willing to consider the ‘correlation between some of the violent passages in the Koran and the Hadiths and many of the acts of brutality being carried out by radical Muslims in the world’ [that’s a quote from one of his Kos pieces]. However, I do not now and never have considered my work ‘right-wing’: if defending civilized values against institutionalized violence and religiously justified savagery is ‘right-wing,’ the Left has a great deal to answer for.”

I got this email back from Eric Allen Bell, and he has kindly allowed me to publish it here:

Mr. Spencer –

Very good to hear from you. I made a short documentary called “Not Welcome” (http://www.NotWelcomeDocumentary.com) regarding the backlash against construction of a mosque in Murfreesboro, TN. What inspired me to make that film was the same feeling I have now about what is going on in the greater Islamic world. It was my conscience – a sense of justice.

That said, in the process I absorbed a whole lot of information from traditionally liberal sources. I have only recently come around to a hopefully more expansive point of view. When I finally read one of your books for the first time, I kept waiting for the part where you would prove yourself to be a “Loon” so that I could stop reading, but that never happened :)

I watched the documentary, “Islam: What the West Needs to Know” and wanted so badly to prove wrong what I had seen and heard – but I could not. This was not only humbling but it has caused me to really rethink and rethink the possibility that perhaps the truth is not politically correct.

And more is still being revealed. When I made “Not Welcome” most of the arguments against Islam I heard among the people of Murfreesboro, TN were religiously motivated. People would actually say to me that “America is a Christian nation” and they believed it said this in the Bible. The leaders of the movement were Christian Zionists. It was ugly, and yet their concerns were not entirely unfounded.

So I decided to keep the focus of the film on America and look for ways to convey a message about what I perceive to be a real enemy at home. At that time I did not perceive a real threat to America in the way of “creeping Sharia” and so I left that alone.

But as I watch with great disappointment the developments that have followed the so-called “Arab Spring” I am very, very concerned. Islamism is clearly on the rise, they have weapons, they are not rational and I am concerned.

It means a lot to me to hear from you directly like this. I apologize if in fact I have mis-characterized where you are coming from. In my own defense, the anti-mosque crowd in Murfreesboro, TN were a very nasty bunch – and they love JihadWatch ;) So, perhaps I wrongly judged you by some of them, and if that is the case I am very sorry. I will continue to read your blog and continue to research.

I admire your courage and conviction in being one of the only truth tellers out there about the dangers of Islam, your willingness to use your name and put your picture on your blog, your fearlessness in posting the Mohammed cartoon.

Please feel free to contact me anytime. My sense is that this war of words with Loonwatch (who now have several Islamic websites backing them up and putting my name out on the street) has only just begun.

Peace,

Eric Allen Bell

Nanny State Lunch Police ~ Big Government Craziness (Updated!)

The Blaze has this jaw-dropping story:

A North Carolina mom is irate after her four-year-old daughter returned home late last month with an uneaten lunch the mother had packed for the girl earlier that day. But she wasn’t mad because the daughter decided to go on a hunger strike. Instead, the reason the daughter didn’t eat her lunch is because someone at the school determined the lunch wasn’t healthy enough and sent it back home.

Yes, you read that right.

The incident happened in Raeford, N.C. at West Hoke Elementary School. What was wrong with the lunch? That’s still a head-scratcher because it didn’t contain anything egregious: a turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice. But for the inspector on hand that day, it didn’t meet the healthy requirements.

See, in North Carolina, all pre-Kindergarten programs are required to evaluate the lunches being provided and determine if they meet USDA nutrition guidelines. If not, they must provide an alternative.

But that’s not the worst of it. Instead of being given a salad or something really healthy, the girl was given chicken nuggets instead. On top of it, her mother was then sent a bill for the cafeteria food.

Rush Limbaugh talked with a caller on his radio show about this issue… here is the transcript from that conversation:

RUSH: By the way, at West Hoke Elementary School in Raeford, North Carolina, every student had their lunch box inspected. And I think every student failed in having a nutritious lunch by the agent in charge, which is probably an SEIU union cafeteria worker.

[…..]

RUSH: Lucas in Boone, North Carolina.  Welcome to the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Greetings from the People’s Republic of North Carolina.

RUSH:  Thank you, sir.

CALLER:  About eight months ago my wife and I decided to enroll our son in daycare here in North Carolina, and I got this huge packet of sheets that I had to fill out, and they, you know, field trip permission slip, take your photo permission slip, and one of them was, “By signing this you agree that you’ll meet the state’s requirements for a preschool lunch,” even though I’m packing it.  And it says I have to have six ounces of milk or a milk substitute, four ounces of meat or a meat substitute, three ounces of grain, three ounces of vegetable, three ounces of fruit, and goes on and on and on.  And I did not sign it and I fought about it with them and they pointed me to the state official that I could talk to, and they told me that, “If your son doesn’t like milk just pack it anyway and we’ll dump it out for you and then you can pack something else.”  And I said, “Do you know how much a gallon of milk costs?”  And they said, “Well, that’s the rules and you have to follow ’em if you want to be in daycare.” So now I’ve got the government telling me that I’m not smart enough to feed my own child.

RUSH:  Yep.  North Carolina, same state as the kindergarten requirements I just described.

CALLER:  It’s unbelievable.

RUSH:  Same state.  And, I’ll tell you what, this is all coming from Michelle Obama.  There are agents in preschools, kindergartens in North Carolina examining the preschool students’ lunch boxes.  State agents!

Likewise, the UK paper, Mail Online, did a story on this kerfuffle:

A preschool girl was told her homemade meal wasn’t healthy enough so a school cafeteria monitor made her eat chicken nuggets instead.

What could be less healthy than chicken nuggets? A turkey and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread with a side of a banana, potato chips, and apple juice.

‘What got me so mad is, number one, don’t tell my kid I’m not packing her lunch box properly,’ the mother from North Carolina, who wished to remain anonymous, told a local newspaper.

‘I pack her lunchbox according to what she eats. It always consists of a fruit. It never consists of a vegetable. She eats vegetables at home because I have to watch her because she doesn’t really care for vegetables.’

The Department of Health and Human Services requires students to eat lunches that consist of meat, milk, grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables.

It isn’t clear what the entire meal that the cafeteria at West Hoke Elementary School consisted of, but all that the picky four-year-old girl ate were the chicken nuggets.

That said, Jani Kozlowski, the spokesperson from the DHHS children’s division said that the meal sounds like it would have passed the federal guidelines test.

‘With a turkey sandwich, that covers your protein, your grain, and if it had cheese on it, that’s the dairy,’ Ms Kozlowski told The Carolina Journal.

‘It sounds like the lunch itself would’ve met all of the standards,’ she said, not having worked with the school in question herself.

On top of the wasted food that was sent home with the little girl at the end of the day was a $1.25 bill for the ‘healthy’ school lunch.

‘I don’t feel that I should pay for a cafeteria lunch when I provide lunch for her from home,’ the mother wrote in a letter to her state representative.

Evangelical History

China:
It is estimated that 20 million Chinese lost their lives during Mao’s Cultural Revolution. Christians stood firm in what was probably the most widespread and harsh persecution the Church has ever experienced. The persecution purified and indigenized the Church. Since 1977 the growth of the Church in China has no parallels in history. Researchers estimate that there were 3075 million Christians by 1990. Mao Zedong unwittingly became the greatest evangelist in history.

El Salvador.
The 12-year civil war, earthquakes, and the collapse of the price of coffee, the nation’s main export, impoverished the nation. Over 80% live in dire poverty. An astonishing spiritual harvest has been gathered from all strata of society in the midst of the hate and bitterness of war. In 1960 evangelicals were 2.3% of the population, but today are around 20%.

Ethiopia:
Ethiopia is in a state of shock. Her population struggles with the trauma of millions of deaths through repression, famine, and war. Two great waves of violent persecution refined and purified the Church, but there were many martyrs. There have been millions coming to Christ. Protestants were fewer than 0.8% of the population in 1960, but by 1990 this may have become 13% of the population.

Hugh Hewitt & Mark Steyn Comment on New Yorker Magazine’s Blatant Anti-Catholicism

Hugh Hewitt and later Mark Steyn comment on the New Yorker Magazine’s anti-Catholic stance found in John Cassidy’s article that if said of the homosexual community or against feminist proclivities, heads would surely roll. However, as is pointed out, bashing with the most vitriolic bigotry the Catholic Church or the Christian faith is of the highest progressive elite order. (Posted by Religio-Political Talk.)

Larry Elder Weaves a Story of the Racial Politics on the Left and Whitney Houston’s Life & Death

Larry Elder — the “Sage” of South Central — weaves a tale of politically correct multi-cultural leftism only the way Larry can. He excoriates the politics of race on the left, including Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Michael Steele, Justice Clarence Thomas, congressional candidate Charlotte Bergmann, Herman Cain, and the like. The racially divisive Left are heaping upon their heads coal (Acts 17:26 and Galatians 3:28), and many of the callers are upset about the history of how the black, Democratic community, inflict emotional pain on fellow brothers and sisters in the name of “diversity.” (Posted by Religio-Political Talk.)

Granddaughter of Paul and Jan Crouch, Brittany Koper, Is Suing TBN and Two Lawyers Who Work with TBN

Slaughter of the Sheep has this on the suit:

An article in the Christian Post reveals that Brittany B. Koper, granddaughter of Paul and Jan Crouch, is suing her former attorneys for “breach of duties, inflicting emotional distress and professional negligence.” Apparently the attorneys advised her to help cover up financial abuse and fraud at TBN.

After Koper took charge of TBN’s finance department, she allegedly discovered illegal financial practices on the part of the company’s directors, but was told to protect the information.

“Following her appointment, Ms. Koper was specifically instructed to falsify public financial disclosures, to falsify government records, and to otherwise cover up conduct of the TBN Companies and their directors that Ms. Koper reasonably believed to be unlawful,” the suit claims.

None of this is surprising, but if the allegations are true, it’s going to be hard for a lot of people to turn a deaf ear to someone as close to the family as a grandchild. Many will still defend them and claim this attack is from the devil, …

One News Now has this story on TBN being sued:

The world’s leading Christian broadcasting network is being accused of illegally handing out over $50 million in assets to the network’s directors.

The granddaughter of Paul and Jan Crouch, the founders of Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), is making the accusation. According to The Orange County Register, Brittany Koper is suing two lawyers who work with TBN — not her grandparents directly — for negligence and for breaking their “fiduciary duty and other transgressions.” The network’s leaders have often fallen under scrutiny concerning how they are able to afford lavish mansions, a $50-million jet, and private chauffeurs.

Koper has worked for TBN and has served as the director of finance, director of human resources, and chief financial officer for Trinity Christian Center of Santa Ana. She says when she was appointed to TBN’s finance department, she allegedly found that the company had made illegal financial decisions, but she was told to fabricate public disclosures to cover up the tracks. Koper asserts that the two attorneys named in the suit encouraged her to do as she was told.

When she reported the situation, Koper and her husband were fired and accused of being “just as guilty” as the TBN leaders.

Douglass S. Davert is a Long Beach attorney named in the suit. He tells The OC Register that Koper’s allegations are “outright fiction and wholly without merit.” His legal group reportedly filed a lawsuit last year alleging that Koper and her husband were the ones who were engaged in the questionable conduct. Davert’s lawsuit accused the two of fabricating documents and misusing roughly $400,000. That case was dismissed earlier this year.

Koper’s attorney argues that she was fired for inside whistleblowing, so she is preparing to present documents that back her allegations. Meanwhile, Davert asserts that he and the other named attorney will “defend themselves vigorously” when the allegations are made public.

Koper will submit the documents to the Internal Revenue Service for further investigation.

And this from Religion News Blog:

The granddaughter of Trinity Broadcasting Network’s Paul and Jan Crouch has accused the world’s largest Christian broadcaster of unlawfully distributing charitable assets worth more than $50 million to the company’s directors.

The Orange County Register reports:

The charges are leveled in a federal lawsuit filed by Crouch granddaughter Brittany Koper last week against her former lawyers, who also do legal work for TBN.

“Observers have often wondered how the Crouches can afford multiple mansions on both coasts, a $50 million jet and chauffeurs,” said Tymothy MacLeod, Koper’s attorney. “And finally, with the CFO coming forward, we have answers to those questions.”

Koper had served as chief financial officer, director of finance, corporate treasurer and director of human resources for Trinity Christian Center of Santa Ana, which does business as Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), according to the suit.

Koper’s complaint is not directed against her grandparents or TBN — but against the two attorneys who handle some of TBN’s legal work, and who once worked for Koper herself. She accuses them of professional negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and other transgressions in the suit.

Koper was using these attorneys for her personal affairs, and she went to them with her suspicions over the legality of the payments to TBN’s directors, only to be told to shut up, return everything she had earned through TBN to the company, and be gone, according to the suit. […more…]

Koper’s complaint is for

✦Breach of Fiduciary Duties
✦Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress, and
✦Professional Negligence

In her complaint Koper also accuses attorney Douglass S. Davert of Davert & Loe in Long Beach, California of lewd behavior toward her. The complaint says he ‘touched her in an overtly sexual manner repeatedly, told Ms. Koper that he was sexually aroused, made lewd and derogatory comments about engaging in sexual acts with Ms. Koper, and offered illegal drugs to Ms. Koper.

In 2009, Koper’s attorney Tymothy McLeod represented Brian Dugger, a gay broadcast engineer who sued the Trinity Broadcasting Network in 2009, claiming he was harassed and discriminated against by TBN employees as well as Paul Crouch Jr. A confidential settlement in the case was reached in 2010.

`I voted for Barack because he was black-[Obama’s] message didn’t mean shit to me` ~ Samuel L. Jackson (Plus: Thaddeus Matthews, American Bigot)

“I voted for Barack because he was black,” the actor said candidly to Ebony magazine. “That’s why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them. That’s American politics, pure and simple. [Obama’s] message didn’t mean sh*t to me.” HotAir
