The French Reject Same-Sex Marriage

(This is with thanks to Freepers) Weekend Libertarian notes some under reported news coming out of France:

Same-sex marriage (for now) is coming to the liberal-leaning state of New York. But in Europe, last month, traditional marriage received an even bigger victory, when France’s lower house of parliament rejected a bill that would have allowed homosexuals to marry. Or as the UMP lawmaker Michel Diefenbacher explained, “We are against homophobia but we do not want to alter the image and function of marriage in the collective subconscious.” And, so it was. Tradition prevailed.

But thanks to herd politics, a media silence ruled for one result, and a celebration was arranged for another. In all truth, unprofessional campaigning journalists were too emotional, siding with “marriage equality” activists over balance.*

My critical-thinking concerns run deeper than report stacking though, because as the social psychologist and sociologist, Gustave Le Bon, also known as the father of groupthink, understood, in-crowd psychology is a schizophrenic creature.

The group psychology is interesting here. And it reinforces my concerns: Good news for traditionalists is often no news. Good news for media-approved activists is the news. There are numerous examples. In an ideal world, journalists would step away from activists. Often they’re running with them.

[….]

As a critical-thinking European-Australian, I’m happy to provide reasons for my same-sex marriage opposition: psychological, sociological, political, secular, interfaith, historical, biological, and archaeological. But, one just needs to observe how the friends of the bourgeois “equality” movement treat critical-thinking groups.

There’s a reason why the French are fond of saying, “Ill-gotten gains seldom prosper.” While I feel gay marriage will destroy itself over the long-term, we have an obligation to demand professional journalism now for democracy, and for society’s collective subconscious.

Dennis Prager Appears on Reliable Sources to Debate John Aravosis About Same-Sex Marriage

To say John Aravosis cannot respond coherently without childish “sweeping aside” arguments is an understatement. One site not supportive of Dennis’ views says this of John:

Aravosis opens with a ridiculous premise, saying that “whenever you have a political contest, and one side wins, they cover the victor.” Not only is that premise false, it papers over the relevant fact, that coverage of the Marriage Equality Act is a rare example of the media doing its job. The media’s coverage of Proposition 8 (which Prager correctly cites), and even more recently, the Citizens United Supreme Court decision, did not focus on the so-called “victors,” but on the negative consequences of each of them…. Aravosis opts for transparent straw-man arguments, bizarrely saying, at one point, that “Now, Dennis is talking about I’m trying to turn him into a woman.” (Media’ite)

Here is the whole segment in video form:

And here is Prager discussiong his appearance and taking calls on the subject:

DADT Troubles~Stealth Marriages

(If someone needs the embed code for the above video, message me on Facebook or send an email – found on my BIO PAGE.) This is merely the fruition of two calls into the Michael Medved Show by two military personel giving their input on the troubles seen above.

This show that the homosexual Left has no concern for the rule of law or equality under the law but want to change laws by subverting them.

Temp Hold On Same-Sex Marriage Stays

One News Now has this updated story to the saga known as Prop 8:

A federal court ruled Wednesday it will enforce Proposition 8, the California law passed in November 2008 that defines marriage between a man and a woman, as the state’s highest court weighs the law’s constitutionality.

On Wednesday, the San Francisco-based Ninth U.S. Court of Appeals announced it will not lift a temporary ban on same-sex “marriages,” despite pressure from lawyers arguing against Prop. 8. Proponents of same-gender marriage had been joined by California Attorney General Kamala Harris, a Democrat, in urging that the ban be lifted.

But the Ninth Circuit’s three-judge panel noted that the order to pave the way for homosexuals to marry in California was rejected “at this time” as the state Supreme Court deliberates whether initiative proponents have the right under state law to defend the law. The state’s highest court announced it will not begin hearing oral arguments until September, further delaying the decision on Prop. 8.

Matt Staver of Liberty Counsel tells OneNewsNow while he is pleased with the Ninth Circuit’s decision to uphold Prop. 8 for now, marriage traditionalists cannot let up.

“This is very good news,” says the Christian attorney. “We can’t simply take for granted, however, that this will be the ultimate outcome of this Ninth Circuit because they’re not at a point where they’ve ruled on the merits. But at least they have not decided to torpedo the law at this point.”
