More Swamp Cleaning ~ (Dusted Off for a Terry Bean Update)

(Originally posted 9-2010 here; at my old blog part of this was posted 12-2008. Updated with Terry Bean 11-2014)

GAY PATRIOT allows me to update an old post that deals with the left’s unrestrained appitite that allies itself to a political philsophy that entwines relativism into its foundation:

Sick!

When I read about Obama-bundler Terry Bean’s arrest for sodomizing a 15-year-old boy, [And don’t tell me a 15 year old isn’t a child when Obamacare is claiming that 25 year olds are children and the anti-gun left is claiming 22 year olds are children] I did not know that he was not just a Democrat activist but also a founder of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). Nor did I realize that Bean is 66 years old and his boyfriend (who was also arrested) is 25.

[….]

Like all good left-wing activists, he blamed Republicans for AIDS.

Bean decried the failure of the Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush administrations to respond to the crisis and threw his fundraising muscle behind Bill Clinton’s candidacy in 1992, because of his promise to address the AIDS crisis. He said, “I have way too many friends who have just too few T-cells in their blood to be able to survive four more years of George Bush. This is the politics of survival.”

This creeper was apparently quite the Democrat hero.

Terry Bean has received many awards for his political activism over the years, including from the Equity Foundation, the Victory Fund, the Human Rights Campaign, and Basic Rights Oregon.[citation needed] Former Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski declared August 23, 2008, to be “Terry Bean Equality Day” in Oregon, in recognition for the work he has done on LGBT rights causes since the 1970s.

Reminds me of another gay activist hero, Larry Brinken.

Larry Brinkin, the iconic San Francisco gay activist who brought the nation’s first domestic partnership lawsuit in 1982, was arrested Friday on charges of possession and distribution of child pornography, police said.

[The San Francisco Board of Supervisors declared] the first seven days of February 2010 “Larry Brinkin Week” in honor of his advocacy.

So, why bring all of this up? Simple, the activist left is full of smug, self-righteous activists who need to be taken down a peg or two. Also, to understand the real agenda of the progressive left, you have to see the kind of people who are leaders in the progressive left, who are lauded by the progressive left, and realize how dark, evil, and creepy they are. And also be repulsed at how many others on the left are willing to defend them….

GATEWAY PUNDIT posted a story about Jesse Jackson Jr.’s connection with buying a senate seat and some money issues. But the part of the post that got me was the story about his affair. And I quote Gateway:

There is also an affair broadly hinted at between the Congressman and a woman named Giovanna Huidobro, an affair that Jackson has asked the media to ignore so as to “respect” his “private” problem between he and his wife.

The woman is said to be a “restaurant hostess” but the picture that is being used by the media looks suspiciously like a swimsuit model seen on the CincoUno.com website.

When confronted with the possible relationship, Jackson clammed up and tried to cajole the media to ignore the whole thing.

“The reference to a social acquaintance is a private and personal matter between me and my wife that was handled some time ago,” Jackson said in his statement. “I ask that you respect our privacy.

“I know I have disappointed some supporters, and for that I am deeply sorry. But I remain committed to serving my constituents and fighting on their behalf.”

Like father like son, I guess. Jackson Sr. is well known for his sexual dalliances….

Centrist blogger, Janet Shan (Hinterland Gazette), gets the point across as well that the “fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree,” and that he’s “another shyster like his dad.” And so we have another Swamp Draining example of Democratic corruption one can add to the long list of them. Maybe he will get a standing ovation? Nah, I’m sorry, that only happens when you sleep with underage pages. Ahh, memories:

Swamp 2

Subject/Object Distinction — Foley, Studds, Stevens, Blagovitch ~ circa 2008

Now, a bit of redux here: Mark Foley. Representative Mark Foley was chased out of his position by fellow Republicans when it came to light that he sent salacious e-mails to a same-sex page who was goading him on (and admitted such) about their proposed homosexual meeting. At the time this page was eighteen years old. A separate case was where Foley asked via a letter what a particular page would like for Christmas and sent this same page the present. This page was sixteen at the time. The press and blogosphere mixed up these two cases in a blurred attack on this person — really, because he was a Republican.

I would suspect (like most homosexual men) that Mark Foley was trying to have a homosexual “fling” set up with this “under-age” boy (sixteen years old which is under-age in most states… but NOT in Washington D.C.). Most homosexual men I have talked to had their first encounter (really rape), what is commonly referred to in the homosexual community as their “initiation,”when they were very young by a grown homosexual man. So even if there was a fling, under the laws of D.C., everything would have been legit. The Republican washed him out because of a stand (religiously and naturally — Natural Law) taken against the age and acts involved. To re-post something I and Dennis Prager said:

So when a Democrat says because Sen. Craig was looking for homosexual sex and this makes him a hypocrite because he supported the “Family Values” position of not supporting the “gay agenda” in their goal of same-sex marriage, here is a great set of propositions and questions to ask “said Democrat.”

So you know, I believe that Sen. Craig was trying to commit an immoral act and that he should resign because he should want what’s best for America and not for himself mainly because he cannot be trusted in his personal life, therefore he cannot be trusted in his political life… this aside, what makes him a hypocrite?

What do you do with the many people who are homosexual but have come out publicly stating that we should not change the definition of marriage? Are they hypocrites? If you have same-sex sex, does this mean you have to support the “gay-agenda?”

If a heterosexual supports the “gay-agenda,” does this mean he or she is a hypocrite? Does a heterosexual who supports the “heterosexual-agenda” make him a “homo-phobe?” I know a few Republican homosexuals who do not want the definition of marriage changed, does this make them “homo-phobes?” Or does it make them hypocrites?

Great points to ponder. Prager also points out that the dictionary definition of what a hypocrite is does not fit what we really experience in day-to-day life.

The point here is that really when Foley, Craig, and others are mentioned ~ what the Democrats are really saying is this:

The Republicans are a Party that state a “family values” position that stands against such acts… they are not living up to those standards, whether religious or Natural!

Which most people like myself would agree and want more reference to the Founders understanding of morality and Natural law referenced in the terms served by Republicans. But what the Democrat is also saying is this:

The Democrat Party invites all who want to act this way and have affairs with pages — whether same-sex or otherwise — legally in D.C. under our umbrella because we reject Natural Law’s stance on gender barriers and definitely take a more “progressive” stance on what Jesus and the apostles taught as well as the Old Testament prophets [e.g., the Judeo-Christian ethic].

In other words, if acted out there is nothing of “family values” in the tent of liberalism to counter such actions:

“We (liberal-progressive Democrats) like to point out when the right (Republicans) fails in this ‘family-value’, HOWEVER, we give standing ovations to those who practice such actsalone~without Republicans joining in with applause!”

like IBD so aptly pointed out with Gerry Studds:

QUOTE

It was loyalty to that extreme agenda that accounts for Democrats holding back their ire during a far worse underage homosexual scandal: that of Gerry Studds, a Democratic Massachusetts congressman, for more than two decades.

According to the 1983 House ethics committee report, one congressional page allegedly traveled to Europe with Studds and testified that he took him to his apartment in Georgetown three or four times and that there was sexual activity between them each time. The two later took a 2 1/2-week trip together out of the country, according to the page, and “engaged in sexual activity every two or three days.”

According to the ethics panel’s report, “the relationship may have begun when the page was 16. . . . At that time, Rep. Studds was 36 years old.” What’s more, the underage page had told Studds that he would have preferred not to engage in sexual activity with him. “I mentioned that to him,” the former page testified.

The report added that “two other former pages, both male,” stated under oath that Studds made sexual advances to them. “One was 16 or 17” at the time of the alleged incident, “the other was 17.”

Studds never apologized, and when he was censured by his colleagues, he defiantly stood in the House well looking up at Speaker Tip O’Neill, hands casually folded behind his back. Afterward, Studds not only remained in Congress for more than a decade; the House Democratic leadership allowed him to rise in the congressional ranks and for years hold a full committee chairmanship.

Some of Studds’ Democratic colleagues even voted against the slap on the wrist of censure. Then-Rep. Parren Mitchell of Maryland, for instance, complained of the “absolute humiliation and degradation” Studds had already suffered and said censure would “cannibalize him.”

When Studds returned home to his district, an August 1983 editorial — in the liberal Washington Post of all places — asked with astonishment, “What is it exactly, or even inexactly, that those Massachusetts Democrats were so loudly cheering when they gave Rep. Gerry Studds three standing ovations last weekend? What accounts for this extraordinary response to a man just censured for having taken sexual advantage of a youthful congressional page?”

Why were Democrats cheering? Maybe the answer lies in the causes they support and the ideological company they keep.

The American Civil Liberties Union, after all, gives a 90% rating to Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who would be speaker of the House next year if the Democrats take control, and the ACLU Foundation has contributed to her campaign. That’s the same ACLU that defends the North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) and has tried to bankrupt the Boy Scouts because of its resistance to the idea that male homosexuals should be able to be scoutmasters.

The congressional GOP leadership has clearly dropped the ball in the Foley case. They didn’t recognize what Foley was, and the adolescents under Congress’ care were subjected to the advances of a sexual predator as a result. That’s inexcusable. But it’s the Democrats who want our culture transformed so that people like Foley can feel good about themselves.

`Demons` ~ Maxine Waters

One reason Maxine Waters may be talking like this is she may be feeling the heat, why? Because she is still under investigation for ethics violation, which is when many of her crazy comments have been made — during this time.

Lubbock Online Journal has this:

Maxine Waters has given us insight into the Liberal mind, as she tried to energize her supporters in San Diego this past weekend.  According to Representative Waters, Republicans are “demons” who are “destroying this country.”  Fox News reported,

The California Democrat’s comments, which surfaced Wednesday, were made last weekend at a state party convention in San Diego. Video of her speech shows her rallying Democrats to win back control of the House in November.

“I saw pictures of Boehner and Cantor on our screens (at the convention). Don’t ever let me see again, in life, those Republicans in our hall, on our screens, talking about anything. These are demons,” she told the crowd. “They are bringing down this country, destroying this country, because they’d rather do whatever they can do destroy this president rather than for the good of this country.”

Needless to say, those comments didn’t win her any friends on the other side of the aisle.

“That is a sad and unfortunate speech from a senior House Democrat, particularly at a time when we should be trying to find common ground on ways to get Americans back to work,” Cantor spokesman Brad Dayspring said Wednesday.

Waters, in her speech, also boasted that banks will be “shaking in their boots” if Democrats take back the house and she becomes the House Financial Services Committee chairwoman. She currently is the second-ranking Democrat on the committee behind Rep. Barney Frank, who isn’t running for re-election this year.

Whether Democrats would let her chair the committee is another matter, given that Waters continues to face an ethics investigation into her potential role in securing federal money for a bank with ties to her husband.

This is from the woman who last August in Los Angeles told the TEA Party to “go straight to hell.”  The Daily Caller reported,

“I’m not afraid of anybody,” the California congresswoman told constituents in footage that appeared on ABC affiliate KABC in Los Angeles, not backing down from comments made about President Obama earlier in the week. “This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned — the tea party can go straight to hell.”

Maxine Waters, back in early 2009, threatened to socialize the oil companies and have the Federal government run all of the oil companies.

Maxine Waters is still small potatoes compared to Barack Obama, who wants to bankrupt the coal industry, keep us dependent on overseas oil, unilaterally disarm us, force us to drive electric cars with explosive batteries, and pretend Radical Islam is peaceful and Terrorism does not exist.  Obama is allowing Iran to build nuclear bombs, is chastising Israel, and is on a perpetual rampage against anything that is not unionized, still making a profit, or is making more than $200,000 per year….

Just some other crazy quotes from the socialist:

1.  Tea Party hell:  In remarks earlier this month in Inglewood, Calif., Waters went after the Tea Party, telling a group of her constituents (many wearing purple SEIU T-shirts):  “I am not afraid of anybody.  This is a tough game.  You can’t be intimidated.  You can’t be frightened.  And as far as I’m concerned, the Tea Party can go straight to hell.”

2.  Walk the plank:  During her August 2011, “We’re getting tired” tirade, Waters also went after the opposition in the debt-ceiling debate:  “We were basically held up in raising the debt ceiling until they got all of those budget cuts they demanded.  We didn’t raise any revenue, and they didn’t close any tax loopholes.  I believe the Democratic Party and the President of the United States should not have backed down.  We should have made them walk the plank.”

3.  Socializing oil companies:  Back in 2008, Waters was lecturing oil company executives at a congressional hearing when she plainly stated her true intentions:  “Guess what this liberal would be all about?  This liberal would be about socializing … uh, umm.  … Would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies.”

4.  Outrageous flag-waving:  After the health care bill was signed in April 2010, Waters denounced flag-waving at a Tea Party rally.  “I was amazed.  I really was.  I didn’t say anything to anybody.  I just watched—the Republicans were out there—they were having a great time.  They were laughing, they were waving the American flag, they were egging them on, and I thought that was outrageous behavior.  I really did.”

5.  No crisis at Fannie Mae:  As a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, Waters played a key role in allowing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s reckless actions that led to the housing meltdown.  Here is Waters, at a 2004 congressional hearing, (and yes, that is the same “Frank” Raines that vastly overstated Fannie Mae’s earnings in order to receive $90 million in bonuses).  “We do not have a crisis at Freddie Mac, and particularly Fannie Mae, under the outstanding leadership of Frank Raines.”

6.  Right to anger:  Way back in 1989, Waters was quoted saying how angry she was, and she has been angry ever since.  Here are those 1989 remarks:  “I have a right to my anger, and I don’t want anybody telling me I shouldn’t be, that it’s not nice to be, and that something’s wrong with me because I get angry.”

7.  White power:  Racial politics are always front and center for Waters, as evidenced by this quotation from a 1993 interview with the Los Angeles Times:  “Policy, for the most part, has been made by white people in America, not by people of color.  And they have tended to take care of those things that they think are important.  Whether it’s their agricultural subsidies, or other kinds of expenditures that are certainly not expenditures for poor people or for people of color.  And so we have to band together and keep fighting back.”

8.  Rodney King rebellion:  During the “Why can’t we all just get along” riots in her congressional district, Waters excused the wonton violence, as her constituents were intent on burning down the city.  The Los Angeles Times quoted her saying:  “If you call it a riot, it sounds like it was just a bunch of crazy people who went out and did bad things for no reason.  I maintain it was somewhat understandable, if not acceptable.  So I call it a rebellion.”

9.  Schedule a meeting:  With the financial crisis looming, Waters was mostly worried about a bank that her husband had a financial stake in.  Here, she admits that she contacted the Treasury Department on behalf of OneUnited Bank officials, actions which prompted a congressional ethics probe:  “I followed up on the association’s request by asking Treasury Secretary Paulson to schedule such a meeting.”

10.  Liar, thief:  For those liberals who decry harsh conservative attacks on President Obama, let’s hearken back to 2005 and listen to Waters’ comments on President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney:  “The President is a liar.  Dick Cheney, the chief architect of the Big Lie, is not only a liar, he is a thief.”

Wu Are You To Judge Me? The Most Ethical Congress EVA!

Libertarian Republican has this snippet from a larger post:

This one could even eclipse Weiner-gate. It involves a “teenage girl,” (though, no information is given if that means she’s 18 or 19, or underage).

Wu has been having mental health issues, shouting at office workers, making intelligible statements to the media and such. Democrat leaders have urged him to take a break.

And Gateway Pundit:

Rep. David Wu, facing an accusation of an unwanted sexual encounter with an 18-year-old woman and a request for an investigation by the House Ethics Committee, will not seek re-election next year and was pondering whether he would complete his term, a spokesman for the Oregon Democrat said Monday.

In a letter sent Monday, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi requested the Ethics Committee investigation. The Oregonian, Wu’s hometown newspaper, had reported that a California woman left a voicemail at Wu’s office accusing him on an unwanted sexual encounter. Wu, 56, has said the encounter was consensual.

A few hours after the investigation request, Wu spokesman Erik Dorey told The Associated Press: “He’s still determining his political future, but he will not run for re-election. He’s fully focused on fulfilling his elected duties and serving his constituents to the best of his duties here in the House.”

Wu tried to keep a low profile Monday as lawmakers returned to work and focused their attention on the debate over raising the debt ceiling. Dorey, his communications director, noted that Wu took part in House votes.

Wu, in his seventh term, was guaranteed a stiff primary challenge after seven staffers resigned in January because of unusual behavior that included sending a photo of himself in a tiger costume to a staff member and an angry public speech. Wu attributed those actions to a period of mental health challenges that began in 2008 as marital issues led to separation from his wife.

And from The Other McCain:

Several of Democrat Rep. David Wu’s staffers quit his re-election campaign last year amid reports that the Oregon congressman was behaving erratically. Now a teenage girl — a recent high-school graduate who is the daughter of one of the congressman’s friends — has reportedly said the 56-year-old Wu molested her last year:

A distraught young woman called U.S. Rep. David Wu’s Portland office this spring, accusing him of an unwanted sexual encounter, according to multiple sources.

When confronted, the Oregon Democrat acknowledged a sexual encounter to his senior aides but insisted it was consensual, the sources said.

The woman is the daughter of a longtime friend and campaign donor. She apparently did not contact police at the time.

One person who heard the voice mail described the woman as upset, breathing heavily and “distraught.”

In the voice mail, the young woman accused Wu of aggressive and unwanted sexual behavior, according to sources with direct knowledge of the message and its contents.

Reporters could not verify the young woman’s age. Notes on Facebook over the past 18 months indicate she graduated from high school in 2010. . . .

And The Swamp Draining Continues

This comes with a HotAir h/t:

As if Democrats didn’t have enough troubles on the ethics front with two trials coming up in the House.  Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters have company after the Dallas Morning News reported that Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson gave scholarships from a charitable fund to four relatives and the two children of her aide.  The scholarships violated an anti-nepotism rule that keeps Congressional Black Caucus members from using such charitable funds as payoffs and featherbedding accounts:

Longtime Dallas congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson has awarded thousands of dollars in college scholarships to four relatives and a top aide’s two children since 2005, using foundation funds set aside for black lawmakers’ causes.

The recipients were ineligible under anti-nepotism rules of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, which provided the money. And all of the awards violated a foundation requirement that scholarship winners live or study in a caucus member’s district.

Johnson, a Democrat, denied any favoritism when asked about the scholarships last week. Two days later, she acknowledged in a statement released by her office that she had violated the rules but said she had done so “unknowingly” and would work with the foundation to “rectify the financial situation.”

Oh, please.  That doesn’t pass the smell test.  Under what system would it ever be acceptable for someone to award scholarship funds from charitable accounts to their own family members?  Common sense would tell most people that a line had been crossed, even if it wasn’t explicitly spelled out under the CBC’s own rules — which it was.

Charlie Rangel Charged -&- Charlie Rangel Admits Left Leaning Media Bias (a twofer)

Most Ethical Congress Eva!

Charlie Rangel — if you listen to the end — admits that liberal media bias exists! He is surprised (as am I) that MSNBC would ask such a question. When Rangel asked where he was from, I bet he was thinking the reporter was from FoxNews, only they would ask such a question!

An AP story on MSNBC:

A House investigative committee on Thursday charged New York Rep. Charles Rangel with multiple ethics violations, a blow to the former Ways and Means chairman and an election-year headache for Democrats.

The committee did not immediately specify the charges against the Democrat, who has served in the House for some 40 years and is fourth in House seniority. The announcement by a four-member panel of the House ethics committee sends the case to a House trial, where a separate eight-member panel of Republicans and Democrats will decide whether the violations can be proved by clear and convincing evidence.

The timing of the announcement ensures that it will stretch into the fall campaign, and Republicans are certain to make it an issue as they try to capture majority control of the House. Speaker Nancy Pelosi had once promised to “drain the swamp” of ethical misdeeds by lawmakers in arguing that Democrats should be in charge.

Rangel led the tax-writing Ways and Means panel until he stepped aside last March after the ethics committee criticized him in a separate case — finding that he should have known corporate money was paying for his trips to two Caribbean conferences.
