Mormon Views of God`s Attributes ~ Did God Sin and Why This Is Important (Serious Saturday)

By PapaGiorgio / Jan 28 2012 / in Momonism, Religion, SS / No Comments »

This is how I put it in footnote #7 in my chapter on Mormonism:

Usually I make this point – that Heavenly Father was a mortal man – early in the conversation, and, will revisit this idea of Heavenly Father being a man born into a world of his own by stating the argument another way. I will point out that it is possible that their god owned a gas station, worked at a grocery store as a clerk, went to college, or,even like myself, could have been convicted of crimes and done jail time before becoming “exalted.”

And this is about the extent of the new atheists position… bravo SE Cupp for sticking to your atheist guns against militant atheism:

Take note saying one is a son of god in Mormon theology is much different that a Christian saying we are adopted sons. But this distinction aside… this is some funny stuff (or scary… depending how you view this toothless wonder):

Everyone I would Like You To Meet the HOLY GHOST-HOLY GHOST I Would Like You To Meet Everyone

Here the Holy Ghost is pictured being driven to Sonic Burger;

I always pictured gods a bit more Grecian [i.e., in shape]

The Holy Ghost apparently likes to meet underage women and rape them in lieu of a blessing. Who would have thought? In the linked stories via Religon News Blog, the suspect went from Utah to Idaho, to Montana where he was eventually caught. This is obviously a cult break-away from what I would already consider a theological cult. LDS theology teaches that the Holy Ghost (He is refereed to in Christian theology as the Holy Spirit, another clue to the origins of this cult) has a literal body and resides with Heavenly Father on the planet Kolob. An additional clue to this is the name of the church: Church of the Firstborn of the General Assembly of Heaven. In Mormon theology there are assemblies of the gods, to which Joseph Smith is now part of. Also, on the linked site there is mention of Urim and Thummim and other Mormon (LDS) understandings of theology and history. So a girl being brought up steeped in this idea is more likely to fall for such ideas as a justification for allowing an adult to do these horrible things. Not saying that these people that prey on innocence — whether dentists, psychologists, school counselors, priests/pastors, monks/holy men — need anymore help in their brainwashing in the act of taking advantage of their position of authority and private moments with youth. The sad thing is that the victim’s father pushed her into it as well. Here is a bit of the story[s]:

“He was saying he was The Holy Ghost in the flesh, and I didn’t believe that. I found that hard to believe,” said Cynthia Dalton, daughter of Terrill Dalton.

Cynthia Dalton is now 20. She came to KSL, giving up the privacy a rape victim is normally accorded, because she wants her father prosecuted. She claims he insisted she have sex with Harman when she was 15 years old.

“My dad comes up to me and goes, ‘You’ve got to do this, this is what the Lord wants. You do this, you sleep with Geody, you’ll get great blessings bestowed upon you,’” she said.

Cynthia Dalton says she resisted and then gave in to Harman. A few days later, her father followed suit.

“And he’s like, ‘The Lord says me and you need to have sex. We need to have sex three times and after the third time you’ll have great blessings bestowed upon your head,’” she said.

Salt Lake County investigators have now filed rape charges against both men.

[...]

Detectives investigated the alleged rapes several years ago, but back then Cynthia denied it happened.

“This has been several years later and she is an adult now. She felt more comfortable in disclosing and gave some very good disclosure in connection to the incident,” Hutson said.

“I would like to see my father go behind bars because I don’t want to see him ruin any other young woman’s life,” Cynthia Dalton said.

Well Cynthia, mee too!

About us

About UsAbout Papa Giorgio @ RPT:

Biased: I have my own interests and personal beliefs in mind when talking to others, spiritually or politically (Prov 21:2; Matt 15:19), because... I am Fallen: I am a sinner and tend towards ~ naturally ~ what is not best for me or others. In other words, I will probably let you down (Rom 3:10; Rom 3:23; Lam 5:16); Sentenced: since I tend towards rebellion and selfishness, I am judged accordingly and righteously (Rom 5:12; Rom 6:23a; Job 36:6); Forgiven: I am justified before God NOT through works but by faith (Eph 2:8-10; Gal 2:16; Rom 6:23b; PS 86:5); Relational: mercy is not getting what you deserve. And grace is getting what you absolutely do not deserve (Heb 4:16; Eph 1:5; Jer 15:19a). (FYI ~ all graphics below are click-able)
