The Wall Street Journal mentions this:
…”The ruling in this case ignores that time-tested and rational definition of marriage…and replaces it with the recently conceived notion that marriage is little more than special government recognition for close relationships,” said Byron Babione, a lawyer for Alliance Defending Freedom, which represented the Tulsa County clerk in the case.
Oklahoma is one of the most conservative states. In 2004, nearly 76% of voters in the state approved the constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. The Republican presidential candidate won every Oklahoma county in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 elections. In 2012, GOP nominee Mitt Romney won 67% of the vote, to President Barack Obama‘s 33%.
