NY-26 Special Election: Stealth Democrat Crazy Jack Davis Plays ‘Tea Party’ Spoiler

You may remember in February when “fit fun classy guy” Rep. Chris Lee (R-Stupid) resigned from Congress after being caught trolling Craigslist for dates. That set up a special election to fill the seat, now scheduled for May 24 — two weeks from today.

Republican county chairs picked Assemblywoman Jane Corwin as their candidate, while Democrats picked an obscure county official, Kathy Hochul. This is a strong Republican district in western New York and Corwin, who also has the crucial endorsement of the state’s Conservative Party, should be running away with this.

Alas, there is the Crazy Jack Davis, a once-upon-a-time Republican who, in 2004, 2006 and 2008, ran for the NY-26 seat as a Democrat. Crazy Jack has now managed to get himself on the May 24 ballot as a “Tea Party” candidate. Of course, he’s not in any way representative of the Tea Party movement, and is supported by no Tea Party organizations, but nevertheless — funny how these coincidences happen — Davis has the “Tea Party” ballot line.

Crazy Jack Davis is a millionaire protectionist. As Sam Foster pointed out at Red State, “His signature issue, his raison d’etre has to do with our nation’s trade imbalance… He wants to cancel all free trade agreements in favor of something he calls ‘balanced trade.’ ” Which is utter nonsense, of course. (How is it that some people — Donald Trump is another — become millionaires without understanding basic economics?) “Balanced trade” is just a variation of economic nationalism which, in turn, is a straight road to the planned economy. But if you don’t yet understand why free trade is better policy than protectionism, there’s no point in my lecturing at this point: You’re on the wrong blog, pal.

Of far more immediate political relevance is the fact that a substantial number of NY-26 residents appear to be buying the Smoot-Hawley snake oil that Crazy Jack is selling. One recent poll showed Davis playing the “spoiler” role in the special election by pulling independent voters away from the conservative Republican, Jane Corwin. This has enabled the Democrat to eke out a lead:

Hochul (Democrat) . . . . . 35
Corwin (Republican) . . . . 31
Davis (Crazy) . . . . . . . . . . 24

As the Lonely Conservative says, “A vote for Davis is a vote for Hochul.” And there is no doubt that Davis is a Democrat, rather than a true representative Tea Party movement.

Union/Communist/Marxist Tacticts and How-To Courses at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and the University of Missouri-Kansas City

Here are some CRAZY[!] videos from Big Government, via Publius. The first is jaw-dropping and shows you how left the educational field is.

Union Official, Professor Teach How-to College Course in Violent Union Tactics

If you are wondering why some folks are starting to question whether a college education is worth the cost, the video below goes a long way towards explaining it. Recently, the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) and the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) sponsored two college courses: Introduction to Labor Studies and Labor Politics and Society, to be taught simultaneously through a video conference between to two campuses.

The Professors are Judy Ancel, Director of Labor Studies at UMKC and  Don Giljum, business manager for the International Union of Operating Engineers at Ameren UE in St. Louis. (Bonus: he is a member of the Communist Party.)

In the class, the Professors not only advocate the occasional need for violence and industrial sabotage, they outline specific tactics that can be used. As one of our colleagues pointed out, its the matter-of-factness of it all that is so disturbing.

And yes, the schools, and the professors’ salaries, are funded by taxpayers.

Check back for more explosive, exclusive video later today.

How-to College Course on Violent Union Tactics, Part II: Case Studies Edition

Earlier today, Big Government brought you video footage of a disturbing college course from University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) and University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). In the course, Professors Judy Ancel and David Giljam instruct students on how fear, intimidation and, even, industrial sabotage are important and, often, necessary tools for union activists.

In this new video, the professors make clear that they aren’t just speaking in theoretical terms. Union official David Giljum recounts several anecdotes where he, or other union officials, used threats to strengthen their negotiating positions (or simply get two-weeks paid time off work). Professor Ancel recounts favorably a tactic used by a friend of hers in a union protest in Peru. (Her story will be particularly interesting to any cat lovers out there.)

Stay tuned for a lot more on this story as it develops. LaborUnionReport has more information here.

This is imported from my Google Video account, as, they are going to close their site down totally soon. I suggest buying the DVD (Amazon), it is much-much clearer. Documentary filmmaker Evan Coyne Maloney investigates political censorship at colleges and universities in the United States.

Who Is This Lovely Lady? Wouldn’t You Want Her Teaching Your Children?

What did this very innocent looking teacher write to have her picture — sweet isn’t it — on my blog? She wrote in an email to Republicans the following:

“Atten: Death Threat!!!! Bomb!!!”, “Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your families will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks.”

She is a teacher! Shouldn’t she have known it is “Attn:”???

Wisconsins Judge That Temporarily Blocked The Union Bargaining Bill

Please visit and follow the links of these two bloggers…. they did a bang-up job of uncovering some info that NewsBusters passes on:

Cindy at Fairly Conservative and Mary at FreedomEden broke this story yesterday. RedState, Gateway Pundit, and Doug Ross, among others, have helped promulgate it. I’d rate the odds of the establishment press doing anything with the information at nearly zero.

I have a potential tidbit to add.

FreedomEden’s Mary writes: “Jake Sinderbrand, son of Judge Maryann Sumi, poses a bit of a problem for his mother.” Sumi is the county judge who on Friday temporarily blocked implementation of the collective bargaining-related law passed by the Wisconsin legislature and signed by Governor Scott Walker.

Why that matters is after the jump.

You see, Jake Sinderbrand is “a former field manager with the AFL-CIO and data manager for the SEIU State Council.” Both organizations have members who are employed in Wisconsin’s public sector.

That’s already a pretty clear conflict of interest, one would think. My tidbit may add more fuel to the fire.

Maryann Sumi’s husband/partner, as evidenced here and elsewhere, is Carl Sinderbrand (who, as a side note, is also Chairman of the environmental advocacy group Clean Wisconsin).

Visiting web directories (I’m not providing a link lest one accuse me of violating privacy, even thoug Wisconsin lefties do not have a track record of similar respect), one finds that one of Carl Sinderbrand’s three listed physical addresses is the same as Jake Sinderbrand’s; the other two appear to be office building suites. I could not find a web directory physical address for Maryann Sumi, but if she lives in the same home as Carl, it would appear that she also lives in the same home as Jake. This would compound the level of conflicted interests.

Jake’s Facebook page, which reveals that he “worked at Left Field Strategies (Campaign Consultant/Field Strategist),” is a lefty shrine, including a mock-up of Governor Walker as a “Dope,” a sarcastic take-off on the Obama “Hope” picture so popular two years ago:
