Stop Quoting Me (Not So Funny Anymore!)

While I originally found this poster funny, I — due to a post on the FaceBook where I found the original pic — was informed about some of Marilyn’s biographical history. Firstly, her mother was mentally ill, so we know that there was an unstable home from the get-go for Marilyn. And any child in other than the ideal mother/father home are statistically known to increase in bad-choices and bad-behavior. Not only that, as a foster child, Marilyn was sexually abused.

Yvonne, the woman who called this to my attention, makes a great point:

“She tried her best with the cards life gave her.”…. “Marilyn suffered her entire life… The daughter of her acting coach told Marilyn ‘I want to be just like you,’ Marilyn replied ‘honey, you don’t want to be me, people will just use you.'”

So, I want to leave the poster up with my verbal retraction of it as a lesson learned a) by me, and b) a lesson for others. What we see in society “acted out” may often times be something else (see #’s 4 & 6 for example) that deserves compassion ~ especially Christian compassion… we invented it: humanism [something other world views lack, inherently] ~ rather than humor or derision. Marilyn was lost and needed Christ just like any of us did — do.

We Are All Harlots In the Lord's Eye (Hosea)

Mary Magdalene

What I am basically saying is that it is all fun and games till someone gets hurt, and this girl was thrust into the underbelly of Hollywood and the world stage by people who replaced father-figures and family, it should be a cautionary tale. One that should shake us awake and pray, not for Marilyn, obviously. But to pray for the many girls and boys in the world that are dealt bad cards. And to effectively counter culture’s acceptance of behavior based off of bad cards by its [culture’s] tendency to rubber stamp all behavior as equal, acceptable, or beneficial. (After reading #’s 4 & 6 you will note I am speaking about same-sex marriage as one example.)

Nor should we encourage girls or boys to mimic behavior wrought by these “bad cards” that are displayed in the narcissism of pop-culture.

And, as an aside, who would Jesus invite into your inner-circle of friends that would surprise you like Mary Magdalene surprised the religious leaders of Israel?

Harvard vs. NAVY (Sexual Assaults/Rape) ~ Julia Pollak

After laying out a detailed case of what by Julia Pollak experienced in the military as a woman, she goes on to compare this experinece to her experience at Harvard. A MUST read, great article! I pick up as she enters the comparison:

…Compare all this to the model for sexual assault prevention and response at the institution I belonged to before the military—Harvard College. There, complaints of sexual assault are filed with the Administrative Board, or “Ad Board,” comprised of deans and faculty members. The written policies regarding sexual assault are far less favorable to victims, requiring non-consent to be expressed “verbally or physically” and requiring the Ad Board members to be “sufficiently persuaded” that an assault occurred.

In stark contrast to the stories I’ve heard about military perpetrators landing up in Leavenworth Prison, Harvard’s history of dealing with sexual assault cases might easily give more encouragement to perpetrators than victims.

During my time at Harvard College, between 2005 and 2009, I had one friend who was sexually assaulted by a fellow student, another who was beaten by her boyfriend (a fellow student), and another who was involved in a highly improper and abusive relationship with a professor. Not one of these incidents was ever reported.

In the five years from 2005 to 2010, according to the Harvard Crimson, eight cases of sexual misconduct were brought before Harvard’s Ad Board. Only three perpetrators were required to withdraw from Harvard College for at least six months, and none received a permanent expulsion.

So perhaps, instead of being a punching bag on Capitol Hill, the military should be studied as a model for sexual assault awareness, prevention, and response policy, especially among young people aged 18 to 24.

To place the military’s sexual assault problem in a wider context, here are some illustrative numbers. According to an anonymous survey, service members may have experienced as many as 26,000 instances of “unwanted sexual contact” in 2012. In other words, about 6.1% of female service members and 1.2% of male service members experienced unwanted sexual contact that year. Note that this number includes a substantial number of cases that occurred before the victim entered the military, as well as cases involving civilian perpetrators.

Although it is difficult to make direct comparisons due to differences in the way survey questions are asked, rates of sexual assault outside the military appear to be similar—if not higher. A 2010 study by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) found that 6.7% of all women had experienced sexual violence, rape, or attempted rape in the 12-month period preceding the study. Since sexual assault rates are highest among the young, the CDC finding implies that the incidence of sexual assault is even higher than 6.7% among military-aged women. The CDC also found that between 20 and 25 percent of women, and approximately 6.1 percent of men, are victims of an attempted or completed sexual assault while they are in college.

And perhaps that model should be exported to the nation’s college campuses, where sexual assault is equally prevalent but far more hidden; where sexual assault policies and practices are outdated; and where the fear of litigation or falling rankings makes university administrations reluctant to expel offenders and eager to brush the problem under the carpet.

Horrific Myths That Cause Rape and Murder of Innocence ~ `Girl crawls out of grave after being raped, buried alive`

Editor’s note: These story contains graphic descriptions

I just wish to point out the authorities refused to investigate… can anyone say I-S-L-A-M? Via the New York Post:

A 13-year-old girl has dug herself out of a muddy grave after being raped by two men who then buried her alive in Pakistan.

The teen was abducted from her local village in the Punjab province while she was walking to Koran lessons.

Her father Siddique Mughal told police his daughter had been taken, but they refused to cooperate, Outlook India reported.

The men took the young girl to an isolated place and raped her and then buried her alive as they believed she died during the brutal attack.

But the girl managed to dig her way out the muddy grave and caught the attention of passers-by who helped her to a local medical center.

After local police refused to investigate, the Lahore High Court Chief Justice’s Complaint Cell formally directed them to arrest the girl’s attackers and complete a report on the incident without delay.

A sessions judge for the local Toba Tek Singh region has also been asked to look into the matter.

Child rape remains a problem in Pakistan where local activist group Sahil said cultural myths persist such as HIV positive men believing they can be cured through sex with a virgin.

Statistic show cases of child rape have risen from 668 in 2002 to 2,788 last year, according to the International Business Times.

…. A 3-year-old girl in Saudi Arabia was reportedly raped by a group of men. After taking turns violating the toddler, the men dumped her near a hospital where she was classified in serious condition, the website Emirates 24/7 reported.

Though the attack reportedly occurred last month, police revealed the incident only this past Monday, saying they had arrested three suspects along with two women in connection with the attack.

Doctors at a hospital in Jeddah say the girl is still in a coma and fighting for her life, Gulf News reported.

“She has been raped violently by some men. She was found crying of excruciating pain as her body was full of bruises and her sensitive parts were ruptured,” hospital manager Mohammed Ali told the Saudi Arabia oulet Okaz, as reported by the English-language Emirates 24/7.

Ali said the girl’s clothes were torn and she was bleeding from the vagina.

Earlier this month, a Saudi preacher convicted of torturing his 5-year-old daughter with a cane and cables and beating her to death in 2011 was sentenced to eight years in prison and 600 lashes after paying blood money to the family of the girl’s mother. The killing was reportedly motivated by the father’s suspicions about the girl’s virginity.

Earlier this year, another Saudi cleric called on parents to dress their female babies in a burka, to reduce their chance of being molested.

An Amazing Tale Of God Protecting a Woman of Faith (Caution, *Graphic*)

I watched this the other day, and now here is the back-story. This man had a chance offered to him to repent, and surrender… he will stand before his Judge without excuse. Via The Blaze:

Police say Charlie “Chris” Bates had just finished raping four women at gunpoint after tying up the four men who were with them in a Tampa, Fla. apartment.

Bates then found what he thought was his next victim, a woman sitting on her porch at another apartment complex.

Police say Bates forced the woman inside her unit, made her undress and kiss him, and was about to rape her, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Then she did something amazingly bold and faithful: She began praying.

And she recited John 3:16 from the Bible, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

For God so loved the world …”

Police say Bates’ whole demeanor transformed.

He apologized to the woman, gave her a shirt, and they prayed together.

She tried to hand him her Bible, but when Bates wouldn’t take it, she ripped pages out and gave them to him, the Times says.

After he left, she called 911.

The prayers probably saved the woman’s life, police said.

Twelve hours later on Friday Bates, 24, was fatally wounded by police after a high-speed chase in which authorities exchanged at least 100 bullets with him. Bates is also suspected of shooting at another man, stealing a friend’s car, and threatening a large group of partygoers during his 14-hour rampage, authorities told the Tribune.

Norwegian Woman Jailed in Dubai, for Being Raped

Read more at Jihad Watch!

“Under UAE law, rapists can only be convicted if either the perpetrator confesses or if four adult Muslim males witness the crime.” That is pure Sharia, based on Qur’an 24:4 and 24:13. Those verses, according to Islamic tradition, are a result of Muhammad’s exoneration of his favorite wife, Aisha, who was suspected of adultery. Allah gave him a revelation requiring four male witnesses to establish such a crime: “And those who accuse honourable women but bring not four witnesses, scourge them (with) eighty stripes and never (afterward) accept their testimony – They indeed are evil-doers” (Qur’an 24:4). The problem with this is that women who accuse men of rape but cannot produce four male witnesses are often accused themselves of zina — unlawful sexual intercourse — and jailed as a result. This is not limited just to Dubai or the UAE. According to Sisters In Islam, a Muslim reform group, there is evidence that most — up to 75% — of the women imprisoned in Pakistan are there because of rape.

(Via Vlad) Not surprisingly the Islamic aspects of this story have been removed [from the RT story below]. Aspects such as the fact that her rapist was a Muslim, it was Islamic law that had her jailed for being raped and her Muslim boss fired her for reporting the rape and she, being Norwegian, is probably pissed off that her world view of Islam being wonderful and enlightened and Jews being the real problem is being challenged by all this reality. Must really get tough after a while.

Having a Death Warrant for Being Raped

Outlawed in Pakistan – Trailer from H2HFilms on Vimeo.

Via EveryDayReggie:

WHEN she was gang-raped by four men at the age of 13, her village classed her as a “black virgin” and ordered her killed.

In the rural village of Dadu in southern Pakistan, tradition held that Kainat Soomro’s own family should murder her, as her sexual assault had made her a token of disgrace.

Four years later, Kainat is alive and a documentary about her story is premiering on television in the US.

But that doesn’t mean she or her family is safe.

As the film Outlawed in Pakistan shows, Kainat Soomro is still “destined to be killed” because she took the step – extraordinary in Pakistan – of fighting for justice.

The film is a testament to her family’s strength and endurance in a life which has only become more difficult the longer they have stood up against tradition.

Which Is It Dems? Are Women Equal or Not? Larry Elder Points Out a Contradiction In Evie Hudak`s Elitist Diatribe

From video description:

Larry Elder talks about Democratic state Senator Evie Hudak’s elitist lecture to a rape survivor, Amanda Collins.  “The ‘Sage’ of South-Central” shows how on one-hand Democrats say women are completely equal to men and should be allowed in all aspects of police departments and the military. On the opposite-hand they say women would be put in more danger if they are allowed to carry a weapon in order to protect themselves against criminals and rapists. Which is it?
