Charts and Numbers Elucidate Planned Parenthood’s Budget

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT)did get the chart wrong, and it may be from a pro-life choice. But below is the correct chart and it is still damning:

More important is the financials that came to light during the hearings. HotAir has this:

…The Hill has a round up of Chaffetz’ report released during a House Overnight and Government Reform Committee hearing (emphasis mine).

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) on Tuesday accused the organization of racking up “exorbitant travel expenses,” including first-class flights, charter travel and entertainment costs that included $622,706 on “blowout parties” with celebrity guests…

Some of the themed parties had names such as “Gathering of Goddesses and Gods,” “Chocolate Champagne” and “Murder Mystery,” according to a report released by the committee during the hearing Tuesday…

The committee’s report also noted Planned Parenthood’s real estate holdings, including $34.8 million for its corporate office space near Madison Square Garden in New York City in 2011. In 2015, it sold a 72,000 square-foot condominium to Brookfield Property Partners for $69.6 million.

That’s a LOT of money and it shows Planned Parenthood has some pretty good financial advisers to boot. There’s something else the hearing showed, which was Planned Parenthood would have plenty of money even if all their federal cash was suddenly cut off. Planned Parenthood gets about $700B in nongovernmental funds, and Legal Insurrection’s Kemberlee Kaye found they do a nice job at keeping expenses low.

Not helping their give us ALL the tax money case was the revelation that Planned Parenthood raised $127 million over their expenditures last year. When asked how the $127 million was spent, Richards stammered, began listing expenses until she was corrected, and struggled as she attempted to explain how the organization spent their multi-million-dollar overage.

Unfortunately, the narrative from the left on the hearing will be the rapid-fire exchange between Chaffetz and Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards on how much she makes in a year…

The US Military Wants To ‘Microchip’ Troops

DARPA is at it again. This time, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has announced plans to create nanochips for monitoring troops health on the battlefield.

Kate Knibbs at Mobiledia reports the sensors are targeted at preventing illness and disease, the two causes of most troops medical evacuations.

What seems like a simple way of cutting costs and increasing efficiency has some people concerned that this is the first step in a “computer chips for all” scenario.

Bob Unruh at WND reports one of those opponents, Katherine Albrecht, co-author of Spychips says “It’s never going to happen that the government at gunpoint says, ‘You’re going to have a tracking chip. It’s always in incremental steps. If you can put a microchip in someone that doesn’t track them … everybody looks and says, ‘Come on, it’ll be interesting seeing where we go.’”…

Darwinian views of the world drive this movement:

The following excerpt is substantially longer and is with thanks to Creation.com

The Darwinian Connection

Using Darwinian principles to “improve” mankind is founded on the understanding that man has evolved over millions of years and that therefore we were less or “sub” human in the past. Then, logically we will evolve into something more/better or “post human” in the future. The concept that we can assist our evolution through scientific means isn’t new and is gaining widespread popularity. (For a pictorial depiction of this visit the Before & After Humans website on MSNBC released in 2005.3)

It’s an entirely logical premise if one thinks that man is the ultimate authority. After all, why not give evolution a hand if it’s headed onwards and upwards anyway. Such help could even be regarded as part of the evolutionary process itself. That is, until one realizes that this concept being applied to enhance societies has been tried before.

The horrific consequences of social Darwinism has been thoroughly documented, Nazi Germany being the prime example of ‘survival of the fittest’ ideas being applied to a society and the eugenics movement (the “science” developed by Darwin’s cousin, Francis Galton) frequently touted as the obvious result of the concept that some of us are “more fit” (evolved) and some “less fit” to survive/procreate etc. The Nazi death camps were the “final solution” birthed by eugenic concepts like “racial hygiene”.

Modern atheists like Richard Dawkins try to downplay the connection between Darwinism as “science”, and social Darwinism as a moral concept. Dawkins stated on The Science Show (ABC Radio, 22 January 2000);

“I’m a passionate Darwinian when it comes to science, when it comes to explaining the world, but I’m a passionate anti-Darwinian when it comes to morality and politics.”

But he has also said that although he doesn’t agree with Hitler, certain ideas of eugenics may not be that bad after all. In a letter to the editor of the Sunday Herald (Scotland) he said “ … if you can breed cattle for milk yield, horses for running speed, and dogs for herding skill, why on Earth should it be impossible to breed humans for mathematical, musical or athletic ability?” So in at least one sense Dawkins does agree with Hitler! And as much as he tries to avoid the logical connection between someone believing Darwinism also believing in social Darwinism, they are there all the same.

The Transhumanists

On the coattails of the postmodernist movement, ultra-modernism has birthed a new concept based on these (above) ideas resulting in a large global phenomenon that is gaining tremendous popularity with a broad base of supporters worldwide. Dubbed Transhumanism, one of the reasons it is popular is it attempts to be all inclusive, embracing Darwinism, Intelligent Design, spirituality, science, belief in ET etc wrapped up in a self guided salvation message. In short:

“Transhumanism is the ultimate goal of Technocracy … a meta-movement: the idea that the works of Man’s hands can save Humanity—hence, technology and science forms the basis of a Technocratic society. Transhumanism takes this to its ultimate conclusion: The development of the post-human or neo-human.

“Based on the premise that evolution is true, Transhumanism looks to shape the human species through the direct application of science. In other words, by employing technology we can take hold of the evolutionary process and change it as we desire, thus becoming the masters of our future. To this end, advocates of Transhumanism ascribe to a multitude of possible options.”

How will this utopia come about specifically? Christian apologist Carl Teichrib (a Canadian-based researcher and writer on globalization) explains;

1. DNA: Now that we are unlocking the secrets of DNA, we can alter our genetic makeup to augment desirable traits and block negative characteristics. It’s hoped such a move will bring longevity and eradicate diseases. Other possible outcomes include the production of designer babies in the womb, and even introducing DNA from other species into the human code; thus building a ‘Human Plus’ equipped with advanced physical and cognitive traits. Such a trans-human/hybrid would be ‘transgenic’—literally a human GMO (Genetically Modified Organism).

2. Computer Interfacing and AI: As the secrets of the brain are discovered, it is anticipated that a time will arrive when the mind is efficiently interfaced with cyber-space. It is believed that in such a scenario the brain, once ‘plugged-in,’ could allow the mind to surf the network, download and upload from the web, receive memory upgrades, and converge with a global mind-to-machine-to mind community—forming a type of cyber-hive. Or, according to some cybernetic purists, to allow one’s consciousness to completely leave the bounds of flesh and enter cyber-space as an electronic entity. After all the brain, it’s argued, is an electrochemical organ. This mind uploading, it’s believed, could culminate in what the Catholic mystic, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin called the noosphere: the emergence of a living, global consciousness. The web would thus ‘come alive’.”

The transhumanist group Technolife’s website makes it clear;

“The exponential improvement of technology will make extensive body and mind enhancement possible within decades. Mainly through changing our genes and by emerging with machines (which by then will be just as ‘human’ as we are, and not like the machines we know today).”

And in a video on their site we hear “Humans have a natural desire for perfection. Who will settle for normal when you can be perfect? Today we have the technology to go beyond any limitation … nanotechnology, biotechnology, neuroscience, informatics … all of these knowledge fields will soon converge. Superior bodies and minds, bodies without pain, without limits … now we can offer you to be happy, healthy, beautiful and forever young”.

Many might consider this a fringe movement except for the fact that this website represents a research project funded by European Union (The EU is an economic and political union of 27 member states located primarily in Europe including the UK, France, Germany, Sweden etc).

And a quick overview of a 2003 report titled, “Converging Technologies for Improving Human Performance: Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Information Technology, and Cognitive Science” reveals these ideas are indeed far reaching. This extensive 405 page document issued by the National Science Foundation and the Department of Commerce of the US explains its (indiscernibly transhumanisistic) goal isn’t just better bodies and more effective minds but actually the preventing an inevitable societal “catastrophe”.

In its introduction we read;

“This report underlines several broad, long-term implications of converging technologies in key areas of human activity, including working, learning, aging, group interaction, and human evolution.

“Activities that accelerate convergence to improve human performance must be enhanced, including focused research and development, increased technological synergy from the nanoscale, developing of interfaces among sciences and technologies, and a holistic approach to monitor the resultant societal evolution.”

This is more that overcoming illnesses, diseases and birth defects that have beset us since the Fall. According to this report the answer to humanity’s ultimate problems is a kind of worldwide technology induced unity:

“Technological convergence could become the framework for human convergence (Ostrum et al. 2002).

“The twenty-first century could end in world peace, universal prosperity, and evolution to a higher level of compassion and accomplishment. It is hard to find the right metaphor to see a century into the future, but it may be that humanity would become like a single, distributed and interconnected ‘brain’ based in new core pathways of society.”

Sounds like the Borg to me!

Indeed, the transhumanist magazine “H+” (Humanity +, the “+” signifying what humans will evolve into) revealed an article on November 16 2010 titled “Problem Solved” with the following tag line; “In 2011, with your help, H+ Magazine will solve all the world’s problems!”, listing everything from poverty, disease, discrimination, terrorism and even death as problems solvable by transhumanistic beliefs. While admitting tongue in cheek that they didn’t believe a magazine could solve all the world’s problems, it reveals the faith that they hold, that this path of transhumanism will eventually be our “savior”.

And this recent article notes how a parent is “upgrading” her son: “Why I’m Turning My Son Into A Cyborg

Transmisogynist

What if a woman gets an operation to be a man, but has a dislike for men who become women (Or women in general)? These new “lifestyles” and the acceptance as normal by some will stretch credulity as well as language — as seen here.

Parody is as dead as the fabled Norwegian Blue…

Question: It’s concerning to me that you’re telling lesbians they are bigoted/transphobic/vile for being exclusively attracted to females (referring to the female sex, to clarify), and accusing lesbians of contributing to the deaths of trans women by not having sex with them. Is it very difficult to understand that people have reasons for not wanting to have sex with male bodied individuals including previous experiences and also just the fact that their sexuality is inherent? Requiring sex as a form of validation from females comes across as worryingly entitled and very coercive.

Answer: There is no “female sex”. Coercively gendering biology is violence.

Trans women are not “male bodied”. You’re assuming you know a trans woman’s biological features, for a start. Some trans women have penises, some have vaginas, some have other genitals. Some trans women have oestrogen dominant hormone profiles, some have testosterone dominant, some have other hormonal makeups. Some have boobs, some don’t. But in all cases, they are women, they are female, and therefore – as long as they choose to define themselves as such – they are female bodied.

I’m not advocating for every lesbian to be forced to have sex with a trans woman, no matter what her biology. I’m saying that anyone who automatically writes trans women out of their potential pool of people to be sexually attracted to, whilst being attracted to cis women, is a transmisogynist. You’re making assumptions about trans women’s bodies….

(more at Protein Wisdom)

More “new-definitions” from a feminist site:

…Trans women experience a particular kind of sexist marginalization based in their unique position of overlapping oppressions – they are both trans and feminine. They are devalued by society on both accounts.

Trans people experience transphobia, or cissexism, due to a cultural and systemic obsession with the gender binary [editors note: nature]: the idea that there are two types of people – men and women – who are born, raised, and naturally associate with that gender and its accompanying characteristics. Our cultural and political institutions are based on this premise….

Update On the Two Female ARMY Ranger School Graduates

Professor Clifford Thies has a great post… really an update to a story about the two female graduates from the Ranger School (see the above video for the typical “mass-media” view of the situation)

People magazine reports that the two female “graduates” of Army Ranger school were helped #1 by being given special training preparatory to the course that the men were not given, #2, by being familiarized with the course for land navigation, with which the men are not pre-familiared, and #3 by allowed second chances at challenges for which the men were only allowed one chance. Furthermore, a two-star general intervened mid-way through the Ranger School to make sure that all the instructors understood that at least one female would pass. Obviously, this is the Obamanated Army, the gay- and transvestite-friendly Army, where soldiers are ordered to look the other way when so-called allies commit atrocities, and where women are proven “equal” to men. Physiologically this is a crock of bull. Our species is dimorphic, although not in an exaggerated way.

The males tend to be taller and have greater upper body strength, and the brains are wired in ways that allows them to compartmentalize things (as in kill another human being and somehow not go insane). Women tend to have complimentary endowments. These differences enable us, as a species, to better survive as long as we work together. Given variation among individuals, there is little point to making generalizations based on gender. In terms of most male-oriented occupations, there are above-average women (in terms of the required mix of attributes) capable of being competitive. But, when you start talking about the best of the best of the best, no. It becomes vanishingly rare for a woman to be competitive.

[….]

Hopefully, the next Commander-in-Chief will drum all the box-check’ers in the officer corps out of the service, including a certain two-star general; and, give the two female officers who “passed” the Army Ranger course an opportunity to return the meaning of the Ranger tab, by opening a box in which they can place their tabs for safe-keeping until they finish their military careers…

Feminists want equality… but they can only achieve it through augmentation. Or, “special rights.”

L.A.’s Minimum Wage Law Hurts Poor/Middle-Class People

Larry Elder interview Dr. Joel Strom on exactly how and whom the arbitrary raising of wage will hurt the poor and middle-class dental patient. You can read more on the minimum wage law at my site, here.

  • Dr. Strom’s website is here.
  • You can also connect with him via Twitter.
  • Also, here is a video bio of Dr. Strom.

Here is part of the article in discussion from The Daily News:

…This crunch is causing many of them to withdraw from Denti-Cal or sell their offices to the larger corporate dental conglomerates.

Those very same corporate entities are now cutting the depth and breadth of their involvement in the Denti-Cal program as well; one large chain of dental offices recently reduced their payrolls by 200 and cut the amount of new Denti-Cal patients they will accept.

At the same time, independent doctors and dentists simply can’t afford to stay enrolled in the program. Most of us need to employ a full-time employee just to manage the process of seeking reimbursement from the state government, which is a time-consuming process that can eat up more than 20 percent of an office’s costs. Yet many times, despite receiving pre-approvals, payment is delayed or sometimes denied by the state. Nor does it help that California reimbursement rates are some of the lowest in the nation.

These factors, when combined, have caused the majority of dentists to refuse to participate in Denti-Cal. Ten years ago, only a third of L.A. dentists participated in the program. Today, that number is believed to be far smaller. In fact, many dentists choose to deliver free care to a set number of patients rather than fill out paperwork, wait months to receive payments, or suffer the setback of not receiving anything at all.

[….]

And that’s where the minimum wage hike comes into play. About the only option available to these small business owners is to maintain consistent and lower payroll, including many times paying administrative staff between 20 and 30 percent less than a $15 new minimum wage. A substantial increase in wages will most certainly translate to increased business costs — costs which, thanks to state law, we can’t legally include in our pricing structure.

As a result, many low-income Angelenos now stand to lose access to the health care and dental care that they need. A $15 minimum wage may help some people, but it is undeniable that it will also harm many of them, as well. Where will the unintended consequences end?
