Columnist and author of “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican,” Ann Coulter accused the media of “100% lying” about comments made by GOP Senate candidate Joni Ernst in Iowa that she believes in owning a firearm to protect herself from “a government” that wants to trample on her rights on Wednesday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel. These people must be crazy! When there is near [damn] consensus on a topic… people should know about it, especially when the raising the minimum wage hurts the black community. But the left thinks and rants that not raising minimum wage is hurting the poor and minorities… when it is the exact opposite. What a crock!
Thomas Sowell (left) and Walter Williams (right) explain the negative effects of the minimum wage.
(Minimum wage laws make discrimination on ethnicity and gender easy, via Milton Friedman) Here is Walter Williams referencing some statistics to make his point (including Neumark), followed by the excellent lead-up to the debate between [included as well] between L.A. Times columnist, Michael Hiltzik, and professor of economics at UC Irvine, David Neumark:
….University of California, Irvine economist David Neumark has examined more than 100 major academic studies on the minimum wage. He states that the White House claim “grossly misstates the weight of the evidence.” About 85 percent of the studies “find a negative employment effect on low-skilled workers.” A 1976 American Economic Association survey found that 90 percent of its members agreed that increasing the minimum wage raises unemployment among young and unskilled workers. A 1990 survey found that 80 percent of economists agreed with the statement that increases in the minimum wage cause unemployment among the youth and low-skilled. If you’re looking for a consensus in most fields of study, examine the introductory and intermediate college textbooks in the field. Economics textbooks that mention the minimum wage say that it increases unemployment for the least skilled worker.
As detailed in my recent book “Race and Economics” (2012), during times of gross racial discrimination, black unemployment was lower than white unemployment and blacks were more active in the labor market. For example, in 1948, black teen unemployment was less than white teen unemployment, and black teens were more active in the labor market. Today black teen unemployment is about 40 percent; for whites, it is about 20 percent. The minimum wage law weighs heavily in this devastating picture. Supporters of higher minimum wages want to index it to inflation so as to avoid its periodic examination….
From the video description:
Larry Elder has on an L.A. Times columnist Michael Hiltzik on to defend his statements made in the column*, as well as professor David Neumark to debate some of the finer points. I do include the build up to the interview/debate, which includes and evisceration of anything deemed moderate at the L.A. Times — pointing out the bias lays firmly on the political-left:

Michael “the Gentle Giant” Brown’s toxicology report is out… and it suggests hallucinations. This would explain well the erratic behavior some (like the Rev. Al “Not So Sharp” Sharpton) in the above clip have issue with. Here is some info from Conservative Tribune:
…Eyewitness testimony has already confirmed that Brown did not have his hands up when he was shot, and the recently released county autopsy report indicates the same. In addition, forensic tests proved that Michael Brown’s blood was present on Wilson’s gun, uniform, and interior car door panel, corroborating his statement that the two struggled for control of Wilson’s gun in the car.
Now the toxicology report has been released, and it, too, puts another nail in the coffin of the liberal narrative surrounding the Brown shooting, according to The Washington Post.
“Jurors have also seen the St. Louis County autopsy report, including toxicology test results for Brown that show he had tetrahydrocannabinol, the active ingredient in marijuana, in his system,” the paper reported on Thursday.
“The Post’s sources said the levels in Brown’s body may have been high enough to trigger hallucinations,” it continued.
It’s only speculation, of course, but hallucinations could account for some of Brown’s reportedly irrational behavior that day, including his attempt to take a gun away from a trained police officer.
The race hustlers, or at least some of them, will undoubtedly portray this report as further evidence of the conspiracy to deny justice to Michael Brown, as if exonerating Wilson were a perversion of justice, rather than its necessary outcome — assuming, of course, that when all the facts are in, Wilson’s story remains credible….
It started a while ago, but is really getting under-way. What does this mean? I will not be able to post more lengthy responses like the ones in my slider at the top of my front-page. the hope is to pass along articles and videos one should be viewing with minimal commentary. Above is the graphic for the company I work for — a friends business. We actually have four online store-fronts, Tragic Mountain being one of them. As we work through inventory the Amazon store will grow in product choice, which is a mix of the following stores. Tragic Mountain on E-Bay will have the widest choice of costumes, wigs, make-up, and the like — Halloween is upon us. Largemouth has more clothing and hats, punk and rock t-shirts, and Skirtstar has Ballroom masks, some lingerie, purses, and the like.
To call someone a racist is a serious charge. A racist is someone who believes that one person is superior (or inferior) to another person simply based on their skin color. It’s a belief that is both foolish and stupid. But conservatives are accused by progressives of being racist on an almost daily basis. Is it a fair accusation? Or, is it just political posturing? And, if it is political posturing, what does it say about the people making the charge? Derryck Green of Project 21 has some provocative answers.
Ever since Barack Hussein Obama became president, there has been a notable acceleration in the use of State power to punish, harass, and wreak vengeance on those the left perceives as their enemies. Just a few examples:
- Barack Obama’s use of the IRS to target conservative opponents for harassment.
- Partisan Democrat prosecutors in Wisconsin conducting a campaign of harassment and intimidation against conservative political groups in that state.
- Radical Feminists imposing California’s “Yes Means Yes” law, stripping college males of the rights of due process and the presumption of innocence, all so they can settle their scores with the “Patriarchy.”
- Harry Reid and 52 senate Democrats attempting to gut the First Amendment’s free speech protections; all to get even with a handful of rich donors who support non-Democrat causes.
- And, of course, the Gay Fascist Left using the power of the state to punish bakers, florists, and photographers who do not support gay marriage.
Inevitably, when the left-wing comes to power, the first order of business is to punish their perceived enemies. That has been the case in every country in which any brand of Marxism has come into power. There was a naive assumption that the political system of the United States, with its body of laws and system of checks and balances, was immune to these types of abuses. Clearly, the last six years have shown that it is not.
Modern leftism is less a set of political beliefs than a militant pathology. If your political philosophy is based on the idea that those who disagree with you are evil, and/or greedy, and/or racist, and/or homophobic, and/or sexist, then, of course, they need to be punished, and of course, the reason your side was elected was to punish them. Obama himself admitted as much when he stated that the purpose of elections was “to punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us.” And his administration and his party have done exactly that….
BTW, this is not — in any way — Carnival’s problem, but they are (as are all the passengers) victims of a bad start to dealing with this crisis n the face of a possible serious outbreak. Leftists are even playing the race-card from the “Liberal Trinity” (race, class, gender) — saying that to even suggest a travel ban is racist! And because of slavery we cannot ban flights from Africa in any way. DUMB!
A movie script that nobody would believe because it sounds too unbelievable but, alas, is true. From ABC News:
A Dallas health care worker who handled clinical specimens from an Ebola-infected patient is on a cruise ship in the Caribbean – with the worker self-quarantined and being monitored for signs of infection, the State Department said in a statement.
According to the government statement, the unidentified female worker departed on a cruise ship from Galveston, Texas on Oct. 12 and was out of the country before being notified of active monitoring required by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Keep in mind, the first Dallas nurse had checked herself into the hospital on October 10 and was put into isolation immediately after she reported a spike in her temperature. Maybe it’s time we have a travel ban on health workers from Dallas because they don’t seem to be able to exercise any common sense on their own.
…That’s right, Belize won’t let the ship dock. Maybe some of the CDC experts should lecture them on why their travel ban is really only going to help spread the disease and not keep the people of Belize safe.
